Meet the Tatung is M1

If you live in Europe, http://www.tatung.com/ nifty looking and economically named "M1" is coming your way and may be a nice alternative to HTC Hurricane, Robbie & Tornado phones (O2 XDA Phone, T-Mobile SDA II, iMate SP4m & SP5, etc.). Similar to HTC, Tatung's M1 will be rebranded under various names, and is set for release Q2 2006 in Europe.

It somes with an interesting feature list:
- Quad band GSM communication and GPRS Class B multi-slot class 12 data
- 1.3 megapixel camera with LED Flash for pictures and videos
- 4X Digital Zoom
- In camcorder mode, the M1 supports 320x240 and 160x120 up to 15 fps.
- Bluetooth 1.2 with A2DP (for stereo wireless headsets!)
- Windows Media Player 10 with DRM
- Hot Swappable MiniSD! (for cards up to 1GB)
- 128MB of Flash NAND memory and 64 MB of SRAM.

Sporting a TI OMAP 730 processor clocked at 208 MHz, we're told the processor is based on the ARM9 core with hardware acceleration for security features and Java applications with a very low power consumption.

Maybe most importantly, very light and small: 90 grams, 110mm (L) x 48mm (W) x 16mm (H) mm

Engadget is reporting that the FCC has approved Tatung's M1 Windows Mobile 5.0 smartphone. It seems this new device is heading to Cingular. Speculation is that the M1 (and we expect Cingular to rename this device) will sell at a cheaper price than Cingular's 2125.
