Hi there, long time no see! smile.gif

In the end I kept my Mpx 200 (this is for those which remember me smile.gif).

Now I've got this problem which is that I'm sick and tired of MS Office's random faulty behavior so, I'm trying to understand if ActyveSync will syncronize my calendar and contacts with something else than Outlook. I've been Googling like mad but so far I'm still clueless. I've also been trying to roam MGN's forums but I can't seem to be able to find an answer.

Anyone can help me in shading a spark of light amisdt darkness? smile.gif

TIA

Lorenzo

Well... Unfortunately for you case, ActiveSync will only sync with Outlook. There are other avenues you can explore like IntelliSync (http://www.sync.com/is_desktop_main.html) It will sync your 2002 OS SmartPhone with Outlook, Outlook Express, Lotus Notes, Novel GroupWise, Act!, Lotus Organizer, and Palm Desktop.

Thanks for the pointer Sean! the problem is that my 'ole Mpx 200 has been flashed with WM03 so I guess that IntellySinc is a no go in my case (anyway I'm going to check their site and I'll see to that).

Abatis: Sorry for my lack of clarity, I'm gonna try making myself understandable:
I have always been using Outlook to sync tasks/contacts between phone and pc.
Provided it is possible I'd like to get rid of Outlook but, before doing so, I must understand if there is another pc-based pim/calendar app that will allow me to sync tasks/contacts between phone and pc.
Google didn't help, I didn't find any post on the matter in the MGN forums so I just thought I'd ask. I hope this is clearer. biggrin.gif

Update:
I just finished browsing IntellySinc's site. What I understood while there is that:

- Intellysinc supports WM02 smartphones (but this might or might not be a problem, I'll download a trial and check).

- Intellysinc supports a variety of translators that allow (well, this is what I understood), to sync a Wm smartphone with Outlook, Lotus Notes or Palm Desktop.

Tonight I'll give it a try...will post results asap.

Hi,

Just wondering if this intellisync offers any other advantages vs active sync in terms of being able to pick and choose what to sync, etc...

Soooo... yesterday's been a long day biggrin.gif

I won't bother you with the detail of my misfortunes, just be aware of the fact that, as IntelliSync's specs read, the current version IS is NOT compatible with WM03. It will ONLY work on a WM02-equipped smartphone.

Apart from that I have had the occasion of giving a look at Act! and Lotus Organizer. The first program is so HUGE that my Amd 1.3ghz box with 512mb ram had ist share of difficulties in running it, consequently the overall performance of Act! was quite sluggish. There are tons and tons of features I don't even know the use for ... not worth it for a home user like me.

Organizer is much more svelte and much less features-ladden, but I really do not like its notebook-like interface.
But I'm digressing here.

As a result of the above I had to reinstall Outlook as it is, in my knowledge, the only fast and easy way to sync pc and phone for a non-geek user as myself.
Now Outlook is working well but, I already know that it won't be long before some strange malfunction pops up again, corrupting my .pst file or whatever. So I'm really not very happy of still having to depend on that software.
Consequently any tip/advice on the matter will be deeply appreciated: Is there anyone out there which is succesfully syncing his Wm smartphone with his Windows pc and anything else than Outlook?
