I've had to remove the battery on my SDA twice in the last two weeks and I've found that when I restart the phone, my time and date have been reset to a default setting. I've obviously removed the battery before (stupid place to put a memory card, bad HTC), but I don't remember having this problem...
Is there a capacitor that may have gone out or a backup battery that needs to be replaced?
Has this happened to anyone else?
Is it supposed to do this when I remove the battery? |

When I changed from Total Internet to T-zones online, I had to change my phone to another model/brand in order for T-zones to be an option. After changing services, I set it back to the SDA and haven't had any problems.
Glad to hear you're working. |

QUOTE (One-Armed Scissor @ Aug 18 2006, 12:35 AM) anyone know how to turn it on? Runningtiger is corredt. In some cases, predicitive text is not on, but can be turned on by using the asterisk key to cycle between all of the text input options. There should be 6-7 different options, but T9 should be the one you're looking for (as opposed to Abc, ABC, abc, t9, and 123). |

It's my understanding that the reason for restricting SDA service to the $30 plan is that it's the only one that will allow ALL of the services and features of the phone to work. If you use TZones, it's proxied, and that causes problems with IM and email, as many have noted. Instead of selling a phone with a service that won't work, they insist on the Total Internet plan instead. Some people have been clever enough to figure out how to use TZones, but with the understanding that not everything is going to work.
Personally, $6/mo for web browsing is just fine for me. |

The $5.99 T-Zones plan goes through a proxy, so chances are you'd have even less success, as proxied connections usually block a lot more ports. If you want access to all of this stuff, with support for it, you'll have to get the Total Internet plan for $30/mo.
I can't comment on Java compatibility, if I needs Java I use a PC. What kind of attachments are you opening in email? |

The SDA and the MPx Motorola use different version of smartphone, and apparently with different menus. Try abatis' suggestion of making a shortcut via activesync to create a link that's accessible from the phone menu. |

I went to install Mini, and the site recognized my phone as a Palmone Treo 650. Next, after I asked for an alternate version, I was asked whether I wanted a low or high memory version. I chose high, because even though the SDA doesn't have a lot of RAM, it's probably more than most phones mini is used on.
It started up fine, but the text is incredibly small, so I changed it up one level. Unfortunately, after also changing it to the proper network setting, I was unable to get it to connect. I will do some more testing once I figure out how to run the java applications, or where they are stored. I have looked in every menu I can think of, every nook and cranny, and can not find where to launch the Java launcher. Paying for the Mobile browser seems like a better option right now. |

I have had some problems getting to Google in the past, but not recently. I usually end up using some other search page, but I'm sure that like most people, we use Google because it's a very small and simple page. I'm going to bookmark the /sda page now too. |

I'm able to get to the secure Yahoo! Mail site, but I have no Exchange server accounts.
EDGE and GPRS are seemingly independent of the service plan. Posts on other forums seem to support this. I've benchmarked it to a local ISP and found some respectable speeds at around 128kbps. It's difficult or impossible for me to tell which I'm connected to with the SDA. |

As a quick update to that last post, I had success with the settings I'd put in manually, but found that MMS messages weren't working. After some tinkering, I removed the TMobile GPRS option from the GPRS list and the proxy that I'd added, and used the .cab files from abatis' link.
Success. |

I followed the instructions on this post: http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=...ndpost&p=718250and it works fine in IE for web browsing, which is all I really want. The link that abatis posted probably does the same thing, but without all of the tedious number/character input. Here's to saving $24/mo! |

I'm going to give the $5.99 TMobileWeb a shot. I did have to change the phone type to get the option, so I simply put it back to my old phone (Nokia 6600), and selected it. I got a text message this morning saying that the changes should have gone through. I'll spend some more time today seeing if I can get it to work, and how well it does. |

I'm gonna give this a shot, because $30/mos is just far too much for what I need/want/use. |

The only drawback to being connected constantly is that your battery life will suffer for it. If that's not a concern, then don't worry. |

I had the same situation. I got a different voice plan that saved me money and am paying for the $30/mo Total Internet plan. I was told repeatedly by many techs that T-Zones does not work on the SDA.
I have read, on this forum and on modaco, that it's possible to manually set it up, but I'm fine with TI, mostly because of the open ports it offers. |

Try going into Start>Settings>Profiles and select "Normal", then hit Menu, then Edit, and check those settings. Also check to make sure that the Speakerphone profile is configured properly. |

You're certain that you're on the "normal" profile? |

Unless there's an adapter that I'm unaware of (which is entirely possible), standard headphone/earbuds will not plug into the SDA. |

I was able to connect to the internet using WiFi and IE/Opera when my Total Internet plan wasn't in effect. It worked just fine in at least 3 locations, using no GPRS/EDGE whatsoever.
I know that IE has a setting to "Automatically Detect Settings" that may be trying to first connect via GPRS, but turning that off should give you the ability to use wifi. |

You don't need to unlock it, because it already has wifi enabled. |

Even if it did have a hack, the SDA has integrated the ability to turn wifi on and off into the UI very well. It's a shame that Cingular has decided to leave out wifi as a feature. |
