Can someone please email me the link where I can download the WM5 upgrade for my MPX200.

Edit by Slacker: MGN does not support the spreading of non-official ROMs. Information for custom ROMs can be found in places like XDA-Developers and SPV-Developers but not on MGN.

QUOTE (bamer02 @ Nov 24 2005, 06:01 AM)
hi

i downloaded a folder off the internet with a lot of files in it. i am not sure if these are the right ones. here's the list:

windows2002.img
windows2003.img
Ben-6-0840-051.img
SUPER_MOTO_2_MPX200(2003).img
2nd MPX200_2003_LANG_UPDATE.img
3rd MPX200_2003_GSM_FIX.img
smartfon

if these are the right files, can someone tell me what's the order of flashing? in other words, which do i flash first? second? third? fourth? i am sorry for the trouble but these files are confusing me.

i know i have to flash the german update first, then the language. problem is that i dont know which is which. thanks in advanced.

Step by step instruction HOW TO FLASH Motorola MPx200

• System Driver Installation:
Unzip the driver file to your hard drive (smartfon.inf)
1. Fully charge the phone
2. Switch off the phone. Remove SD- и SIM- cards
3. Connect the USB cable
4. Hold the left direction key for 5 seconds
5. Install "Smartphone 2002 Wireless USB Modem":
Windows will detect the new device. Windows should launch a splash which indicates that a new USB device is found. Then a hardware wizard is launched.
You should Check “Specify a location” and point on your unzipped inf.
Finally check the Device manager, and a Smartphone 2002 Wireless Modem should appear in Modems.

• New WM installation:
1) Unzip the ROM file (for example Ben-6-0980-035.rom) and the Flasher file (for example LM_mpx200.exe) to your hard drive
2. Start LM_mpx200.exe, click "Update"
3. Select the ROM (Ben-6-0980-035.rom), click "Open"
4. It should start...
Do not disconnect the usb cable until the end of the process!
5. After all done, disconnect the usb cable
6. Remove the battery
7. Insert SIM- и SD- cards
8. Insert the battery
9. Switch the phone on
VERY IMPORTANT FOR “MS Smartphone 2003” SYSTEM: PERFORM “MASTER RESET” AFTER SWITCHING THE PHONE ON!!!

The only major problem I forsee is the square, regardless of resolution, screen.  All Pocket PCs up to very recently have rectangular screens.  I really don't get how it will be compatible with virtually every PPC program ever made.

I was getting an average of 6 hours after upgrading to 2003 English version. So I decided to follow the recharging until no more vibration fix. I turned on the phone once then turned it off. Recharged again until no more vibration then applied Hard Reset. Checked Resource Manager, it says 100%, 27 hours later, 80%,  45 hours later, 30%. This is for using the phone only without any software running. So thank you all for your suggestions.

Now after tomorrow I will install all my softwares. I will keep you all up to date.

I installed all my softwares/apps. Battery last an average of 3 days. The sound also improve big time....

I never charge my phone over USB. Placed a small peace of paper over +5v pin in the USB connector which goes to the USB port of PC. Charging always with motorola charger. The USB has similiar voltage i amperage like original charger, but I doubt about quality of the signal that is being generated by the USB port.

Connection works, but  no phone charging while conected to the PC. I don't think that your phone performs OK because of the USB charging, probably the hard reset did the job. And there's small possibility that your wall charger is malfuncional.  wink.gif

Watch Out!!! The world's first mobile phone virus "in the wild" has spread to the United States from its birthplace in the Philippines eight months ago. A version of the Cabir virus has turned up in two Nokia 6600s on display in a California cell phone store, in what is believed to be the first "on-the-ground" sighting of the virus in the United States. Sean & Staff,
Good job on the boards!
Quick question - did this site host firmware(s) in the past? If so, why were they taken down?
I'm hosting some on my site at the moment, but am not really wanting legal hassles!
Any thoughts/ideas?

Aside from Motorola Razr, I think MPX200 is the most elegant cell phone as of now. Am I wrong?

My wife's phone is acting up......... First a fully charged would last 12 hours only. Second there is a clicking sound every 15 seconds. THIRD NO SIGNAL.

NOW I used my sim, my battery in her phone to see if the problem is related to sim or battery... nope still her phone no signal, clicking sound.

I used her sim and her battery in my phone... no problem at all.

So it seems it is a hardware problem. So any suggestions? or comments what happened? Would a scanner in the airport cooked her phone? Her phone is only 9 months old.

After ten 911 attempts fail over the past 2 months ONLY while on the at&t network, i decided to call at&t on this. As it turns out, very few if any at&t mpx200's will be able to call a 911 operator. You will be able to hear to operater however, they can not hear you. This is not only frusterating , its a dangerous. In minnesota, the phone locator serive is nearly worthless unless you are in the inner city where towers are everywhere. At&t called this a critical issue, and atre "working hard on it". If they have known about it for months, why isnt it fixed? Im EXTREMELY pissed about this and it cost someones life. I've talked to the family of a man who died on 94 in St. Paul, as they were wondering why 911 was so slow to respond. Why? I was the only one around when he crashed and 911 couldnt hear me. The operators finally called back after 4 desperate calls in a row, but someone is dead because of my farking phone. Its being replaced this afternoon with a t-mobile phone, and at&t just lost a $2500 dollar a month multi phone buisness plan.

While attending mass last SUnday, an old lady fainted so I had to call 9-11. I had no problem at all. I reside in Washington DC. Could be your service but not the phone...

ATT exchange program is BS.  I got my fone from Amazon.com and it came broken.  hindge was in 2 pieces and lcd was cracked.  ATTWS said no exchange not their fault. NO insurance either.  Amazon.com said no replacement since there's no proof it came outta the box broke.  Moto said no replacement since it's broken.

i mean it came broken i paid 300 usd for a broken fone.
i dunno if i will do business with Amazon.com, ATTWS or motorola again.

Did you check if your credit card will cover the insurance?

Are they going to charge us multiple times if we send it back and forth until we are satisfied with the replacement?

dwhitelaw - could you verify if you have a ROM version different from the original one.  Warranty Exchange told me that the refurbs would have the latest ROM update

nbercasio - even with refurbs, most of them are usually from those sent back from stores to be opened up and flashed, people who changfed their minds, and then those that are defective - either way, what was wrong with them should have been fixed.  If not, then they need to honor the warranty and you get another one until you are satisfied.

I know when mines come in and I still see the ROM is the same version, I'll be sending it back asking for a new one until I see the defects corrected.  (Plus I want to hold on to my unlocked one as long as possible).

I guess it has something to do with 3 doctors in my family that I became a hy·gi·en·ic person. I don't know but not knowing who was the previous owner especially cell phones with a mouth piece - not knowing the health of the previous owner...bad breaths, herpes etc, where the phone had been, etc.... if ATT can guarantee that it is the one from the stores then I might do it :-)

I will repost this topic since it is a hot issue to discuss...

************

I just finished talking to the ATT Warranty Exchange department. I asked about the DTMF and Caller ID problems of the MPX 200. She was familiar about these problems. She gave me two options: Send it to Motorola so Motorola can install the fix or ATT will mail me a REFURBISHED or RECYCLED phones with the new software fixing the DTMF and Caller ID issue for $24.99 (10.00 shipping and 14.99 processing fee) charge to my account. If I send to Motorola, I don't have a phone while they are fixing it. If I want choose the second option, I will exchange my new phone with with a refurbished phone.

Well I got two problems regarding this exchange program.

1. Why would they send a refurbished/recycled phone? I spent tons of money to pay for this brand new phone and they will send a refurbished phone as a replacement.

2. Why we have to pay if ATT was at fault selling defective phones.

SOLUTION:

Why not just offer the fix online for us to download and install? We have our phone all the time and no need to pay for shipping and handling. What do you think?
