I have one, if you are interested. Cradle, charger, etc. You can e-mail me on cinimod1000@charter.net. I'm in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and you can find me on e-bay as cinimod1000, with 100% positive feedback for anything I've sold.
Let me know if you're interested......we can paypal for security both ends.

MPx220 BLACK, Unlocked, OEM. With 256meg mini SD card!! $275 Incl Fedex shipping.
This unit is two months old, and VERY GENTLY used by myself. I purchased this new, as a black OEM (unbranded) model. It's in mint condition, and comes with everything that came in the original box - phone, charger, CD, stereo headset, sync cable, instructions, etc. Firmware is Generic v1.47.
I'm also including a 256 meg mini SD memory card with the phone!!!!
Looking for $275 firm, shipping included, (FedEx 2nd day).
I have decided to go back to the PPC and phone way of life, so am selling this unit.
You can find me on e-bay as "cinimod1000" with 100% positive feedback, and I have been a member here at MGN for over eighteen months. I think that using Paypal would keep both the buyer and myself protected.
You can PM me, or even better, e-mail me at cinimod1000@charter.net, and we can talk.
Thanks.

I too went through the same process as you. Went all the way up to firmware version 1.3 on the MPx220, and gave up - after four phones. Tried the 5600 twice, but really liked the ergenomics of the 200/220. Went back to my 200 for some time. Eventually, when firmware v1.43 came out, and the forums gave some good reviews, I bought another 220 (Black OEM unlocked). Immediately loaded v1.43 on it, and have not really looked back since. It REALLY works very well - I mostly use it as a PDA, and little as a phone. I found earlier firmware versions just did not give the earpiece volume I needed to hear clearly (I have some minor hearing loss). V1.43 does fix it, with a caveat. The earpiece distorts some, at max volume, but it is liveable with.
Then I heard about the generic v1.47 firmware, and tried that. It works even better, for me. The earpiece audio in the Cingular v1.43 has slightly more bass than the Generic v1.47 version (to me), so the v1.47 distorts less, and is clearer to my ear.
As for the charging problems reported all over the forums. It seems that the connector on the phone has been manufactured so that an AC Charger is slightly loose. I use an older charger, which fits tight. I also use desktop stands, both at work and home, to sync/charge. All is well (so far..).
I have not traveled yet with these firmware versions, so I cannot comment on network connection, call connections, etc, except for locally. It has worked flawlessly so far. I did have one problem, where it would not dial out from the "primary contacts" list, but I found this to be a problem with X-Bar. Took that off, and everything worked well. Sometimes folks load everything on their phone, and expect complete compatability - that's just not reality, these days.
Hope this helps in your decision......

See hofo for information. Said to be a European generic, stable.???
I have not tried it, as Cingular 1.43 works well for me, and I can get T-Zones on it, I'm reluctant to spend the time. If anyone has tried it, please post a report on stability, primary language, earpiece volume, etc.
Thanks

Thanks for the info.
I have an OEM black 220, and my settings are the same as yours above... except mine do not say blah, blah, blah.
Ha Ha.
I think most of this comes from the firmware (1.43)?

Just if anyone is interested, T-Mobile is selling the V3. Not even close to "smart", but cool looking, nonetheless. On Tmobile.com.

Smeg36, Gryphon, et al:
I have the Cingular 1.43 loaded on my Generic 220. In your experience, which rom is better for EARPIECE volume/quality? The Cingular, or the AT&T? I do not want to take the time to tweak the Asian rom - got too much else to do!!). Are these two rom's the same for EARPIECE volume/quality, other than the branding? Also, I think i read somewhere that the AT&T rom has tne Network stuff fully enabled, whereas the Cingular does not?
Thanks y'all. As always, a great site, with lots of good info. Keep it up!!

i live in north dallas and i'd be interested to know what your connection settings are.  now, i have the 19.99 unlimited internet plan but i can't get to the t-zones page.  could you also post the web address you type into IE to get to the t-zones page?  thanks!
*

Sure.....
Here are the settings I'm using:

GPRS CONNECTIONS:
Description: T-Mobile WAP
Connects to: WAP Network
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com (free wap and T-Zones),

User Name: [leave blank]
Password: [leave blank]
Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0
Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0
IP Address: [leave blank]

PROXY CONNECTIONS:
Description:T-Mobile Proxy
Connects From: WAP Network
Connects To: The Internet
Proxy (name:port): 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP
User name: [leave blank]
Password: [leave blank]

Settings-Data Connections:
Internet Connection: T-Mobile WAP
WAP Connection: T-Mobile WAP

INTERNET EXPLORER > MENU > OPTIONS > CONNECTIONS:
Tick 'automatically Detect Settings'
Select network: WAP Network

Created a "Favorites" called T-Zones. Address is: http://wap.myvoicestream.com

I was surprised it worked. "T-Mobile Web" page comes up, with t-zones as the first option. Now, I'm on the west side of Fort Worth, but am just south of DFW (junction of 183/360) during the day. Seems to work at both locations, and inbetween.
By the way, do you have a CD with Outlook 2002 on it? I would be really appreciative of a copy if you do - I'll use my own registration key, so it will all be legit.....I'll PM you tomorrow. Hope the above works for you....

Just thought I'd let you all know that I can actually get T-Zones on my MPx220. I've got the $4.99 package with T-Mobile. The phone is a generic 220, originally from Spain (Simoncells.com), but I'm using the Cingular 1.43 firmware. Couldn't get it before, but it seems that it's working now. Dallas/Fort Worth TX area. Is it working for anyone else, anywhere else?
Also, watch out, if you purchase one of these phones - you will get a Spanish language CD, complete with Spanish Outlook 2002....bummer...if anyone has a link to an english language Outlook 2002, please PM me. I'll try using my registration code with that. Alternatively, if anyone wants to sell me their CD, I'd appreciate a PM. (I'm using Outlook 2000 at the moment)
Thanks

This program lets you toggle between programs -something Windows Smartphone does not do well on it's own. Copy and paste is another good feature. Macro's - that sounds like fun!! I would love to win a copy; I'm poor right now!!!!

Jist to clarify. You both have stock AT&T MPx200's? And that's never happened to you? It runs WM2003 reliably? (Beyond the sim error on startup). Maybe that's my problem. Let me know, then I'll go looking for a cheap clean one, and try it.
Thanks for all your help.

My first 200 did the same thing with Anonymous 1 and 2, and now this on my "new" 200. Both are Generis OEM models. Hmm, wonder if I need an AT&T version........

Yeah, that is odd.  I have never heard of that one before.  Good luck getting it working.

Thanks for the thought, Smeg36. I wish I did. When the phone is sending/receivien mail, or downloading a web page, it actually does the following: Screen goes blank (no light or display at all). I click on any key, and the home screen appears. I click on either mail or IE, and it is continuing what it was doing. However, yesterday it was downloading an e-mail, and I could not get to it, even though it said I had one message. I'll try setting the timeout to never, and see if this is not just a coincidence.
Thanks again.

QUOTE (smeg36 @ Jun 3 2005, 08:45 AM)
You probably have the Home Screen timeout set to 10 seconds.  This is easily fixed.  Go to Start/Settings/Home Screen/Time out:  and change it.  I have mine set to never time out.

This is another fine example of Motorola's customer service!!!!! For some reason, they really think that passing off the responsibility to the carrier, will not affect themselves - WAKE UP MOTOROLA.....

Still, thanks for the information, Cortez. I tried the 2003 again on my Generic 200. I think I can live with the "sim error" on boot up, but I keep getting kicked out of IE and Mail, when the thing is communicating data. Kicks me back to the home screen, and kills the display. I can press any button, and the unit is still communicating data, but is on the home screen. Oh well, back to 2002.......

Cortez.
Thanks for the reply.
I will try 2003 again on my 200. The only thing I did not like was the fact that I had to wait for a full boot, and then get past the "sim error" screen, before I can move on. It's just a pain.
Just one question - (I know this is being discussed in various other forums) - did the volume really increase substantially with v.143 for you, when compared to v1.3 on your 220? I seem to have some hearing loss, and need a louder earpiece than most people seem to need. That's one reason I keep my 200, as the earpiece is REALLY loud, when loaded with 2002 (BEN6-012). It's very acceptable with 2003 loaded, but not as loud. I had 4 220's, one loaded with v1.3, and could not hear the caller, except when all was quiet around me. Let me know about your 220 loaded with 1.43, when you get a chance.
Thanks
