I've got lucky a few times, and got a protecter that didn't have an edge that didn't stick a few times. But more often than not it ends up being a waste of money because I'm not satisfied with it. Plus I end up spending an hour in a steamy bathroom trying to apply it. I used to swear by them, but have since given up. What brand are you using?

I never really tried dialing the name using the on-screen keypad. That makes sense though. Still, more difficult than what I'm doing now, but better than anything I'd thought of yet. That brings me to my other main concern though, screen cleanliness. I'm unhealthily obsessed with keeping my screen clean and perfect looking. As such, I never touch it with my fingers. I could put a screen protector on it to keep finger smudged off the screen, but almost every one I've ever put on had at least one little edge that didn't stick down. I can't live with that, and end up ripping it off after a few days. I'll just have to live with it I guess.

I've been considering getting the new Sprint PPC-6800/HTC Mogul when it comes out. I've been using the Motorola Q for a while now, but was using the Treo 700wx prior to that. One of the main concerns I have with switching back to a PPC, particularly one with a slide out thumb board, is contact dialing. Right now on my Q, as well as with the 700wx, it is so simple. I just start dialing the name of the person I want to call on the exposed thumb board, and within 1-2 key stokes I usually have a call placed.

With the PPC-6800 I don't see it being an easy task. Sure, I can use the right soft key to go into Contacts, scroll through all the names I have, then press the call button on the person I want to call. But that takes an awfully long time compared to the simple method I have now. I could also use voice dialing, but that doesn't work so well in public places. So my question to all you currently using a PPC Phone without an exposed thumb board; how do you place calls on your device? I'm dying to know of any good solutions I'm not thinking of.

That's interesting 'cuz when I went in and manually changed the time on mine, when I ActiveSync'd the time got set back an hour. Whatever works!

I don't know how to tell if my Outlook is fine but I knew my computer was updated and went ahead and did the step 3 on my phone. I watched as it turned 2am and it stayed 2am while other clocks around me were updating themselves to 3am. So, I thought it hadn't worked...just as I'd expected it wouldn't. I manually set the phone to the correct time and went to bed. And, since it "didn't work" I removed the program from my phone while I was at it.

Sunday morning when I got up I ActiveSynced my phone to my PC and my phone clock got set back an hour automatically. Oops. So, I re-installed step 3, ActiveSynced my phone and it got set a hour forward and is now correct.

I noticed in my "remove programs" list I have two entries from Microsoft regarding DST. One is called "Microsoft Corp. Extended DST Update" and the other is called "Microsoft Update for 2007 Daylight Saving Time".

How do you know your Outlook is fine? That's the step 2 part I never got to work on either laptop.

I never got the three step process to work. Step two fails on both our laptops (that we use ActiveSync on). I wonder what would happen if I just follow the non-Outlook calendar sync instructions? I've got the Step 1 update on both PCs and step 3 would update the phones.

Why does WM5 keep every program running after I close it and it seems to open active sync
whenever it wants to, and it wants to all the time. Got tired of going to settings>system>memory>
running programs> stop all. What were they thinking. I am using Pocket nav task manager and it
works well but I would like to find some way to just have a program stop running when I close it. And
to stop active sync from starting all by its self. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

If using it with Cingular, I'd put the most recent Cingular ROM on it. You can find it on the HTC America site if you don't already have it.

Can someone advise.. When i put ringtones in the windows directory it shows up for my regual phone ring tones, but not for my alerts

Thanks. I'm trying .... to.... breathe. ha ha. I'm just so FRUSTRATED. Well, at least the ringtones are working. I'd REALY be upset if that wasnt working to. Ok, I used mp3 to ringtone gold and clicked on "save as wav". I just put it in "my music" and it didnt automatically put it in the sounds and notifications drop down menu and it wont let me add it from the notifications window either. I hope you can help me. I am using the cingular 8125 pocket pc. The theme that I just tried to put on my phone is at this address. I dont know how to check it to see which one it is. These are made specifically for my phone. THank you.

My phone is driving me crazy. This is the third phone I've had and I still cant get it to do a couple things. (I've exchanged it twice.) I've been on hold with cingular for days -literally- and cant get any help. I cant get some of my themes to work and it most definatly wont do any animated themes. It just shows the default blue screen when I set it through settings-today. I purchased them from handango and am trying to get a refund on them as we speak. They are made especially for my phone. The other thing that is driving me crazy is I want to put some of my music files on the phone and use them in the sounds and notification....example : for calander reminders, alarms, missed calls, voice mails, etc etc. When I go into the sounds and notifications and then to notifications i have a drop down menu of sounds I can choose from. I guess I'm trying to figure out how to get my music files in there. Also, I havent seen where you can even change the way the alarm sounds. I am having alot of problems with my phone but if I could just get these two things resolved I would be SO HAPPY. Please help.

Although I close each program in my 8125 it seems to keep them running. I continually have to go to settings memory running programs and hit stop all. I also see programs running that I didnt open such as active sync. It always seems to be running. Is there a better or different way to close programs and keep active sync from opening?? THX

I just picked up my 8125 the other day. So far I really love it. The Cingular store will be happy to sell it to you at full price. I think they sell it for 449. As for WIFI, it only has 802.11 B...no G. no where on the box does it say G...just B. The Wifi drains the battery fast but who cares when u can just plug it in at a internet cafe etc and go as long as you want. I wanted a device like this for a long time with the WiFi. I got tired of pulling out my whole laptop and booting it up just to check a few emails etc.

Yes I tired it....I didn't like it. So I went back to that customized ROM that one guy is doing on spv developers. Its more stable, the radio version works much better.

Well, I broke down and bought it from Handango. I love the expressions on peoples faces when they hear my phone tell me the time, signal, etc.

OK..here is one for ya.

I have a Dlink DI-524 wireless router(192.168.0.1) connected in my closet to the internet connection. I have the WIFI and DHCP turned off on this router. I have a Linksys 5 port switch plugged into the Dlink. I have a Linksys WRT54G(192.168.0.2) plugged into that switch and set to router mode and with DHCP off. The cable goes from the switch to one of the 4 ports of the Linksys router, NOT the WAN port. I have the DHCP server running from my Windows 2003 Server connected to the Dlink router.

I can connect all day long from my laptop wireless(set to DHCP). When I do a IPCONFIG /ALL on my laptop I get all the right information populated....gateway...dns servers, etc.

When I connect with my 8125, it connects and then only works for like 1 minute. Then wont resolve anything I try to connect to.

When I grab my next door neighbor's signal(dont tell him) just to test...it stays working for as long as I want.

I suppose my networking skills are lacking somewhere.

anyone have any thoughts on this?

I don't remember, but I think the SMT5600 has WMP10 on it, correct? Do the protected files show up in WMP on your PC? You could try transferring them over using WMP on your PC.
