QUOTE (gsmnutt @ Aug 29 2005, 10:37 AM)
Wow... I didn't know SP2002 had speakerphone (didn't really care either).  I think something is wrong with my phone because when I put on the speakerphone, it turns on for a second and then I can't hear anything at all.  To actually hear something again, I have to turn off speakerphone.  This happened in WM2003 and I just tested it in SP2002 and it did the same thing.  Weird, eh?  blink.gif
*

Sounds like the old speaker bug. I think we narrowed it down to certain sims setting this off. Also there were rumors that it's not a bug, but a saftey feature. Speaker phone works coming in, but not dialing out. Supposed discourage driving and dialing. Please see Thread : http://www.mobilegadgetnews.com/index.php?...topic=3319&st=0

And any ideas would be appreciated!

Well, as this one that I just posted indicates :
http://www.mpx200.org/forums/index.php?sho...668&#entry32668

I think it seems to be something with the SIMs
The same work arounds work, but .. uhm .. so what can we do about it if it is the sims.

I don't think Roger's makes different sims. ?????

Okay, I thought I'd post cause this one is just too weird. I moved back to Toronto, so my fiancee and I got family plan on rogers. I still have my T-Mobile Sim. Here is the phone setup:

MPX200 with WM2003 firmware

With the T-Mobile sim, it acts fine.

With the Rogers sim ... It doesn't want to hang up when I close the phone. AND ... I can't hear thru the headset. The other side can hear me, but I can't here them. And here's the kicker. If I hold down the mute/unmute button, I can hear other end for split second each time the phone switches from mute to unmute to mute..

I've tried it with my Rogers SIM
I've tried it with my old PAY-AS-YOU-GO rogers sim

I've even tried it wiht my fiancees SIM.

What is going on?!?

(and yes I tried a different headset. Besides mine works fine in my fiancee's phone too)

oh it works fine Actually, there is just one small caveat. You have to change the default modem string. I actually found it in one of these forums here ... but its something along the lines of :

+CGDCONT=1,"IP","wap.voicestream.com","",0,0

or

+CGDCONT=1,"IP","","wap.voicestream.com",0,0

and dial *99#
works fine for me happy.gifx

I am using the free wap, don't have any data plan at all on my mpx200. I have no problem using ssl sites like mail2web, or agile. So I dunno what is up on that front. Frames just don't work in standard pIE.

I've heard a few people getting this error. From what I can gather, and I will find this out as soon as I get my wm2003 firmware, I think the older simcards may have an issue connecting to wm2003. My father just got a new T-mobile phone and I can tell you the new sim cards are definatly a different manufacturer, and they seem to hold more info. That is to say, his sim card seems to have about a 100 slots to store stuff on, while mine only has about 200. My friend also has a similiar issue with a nokia he was using. He went back to the T-mobile store, and told them he suspected it was a simcard incompatability, and he managed to get a replacement newer sim for free.

Well I dunno, when I was having issues with Agile, I was using Mail2Web to get my work email and I was using the SSL connection. Right down to the little lock showing up in my "title bar".

Well .. when you hit the ground I would go to a Rogers store and check. I got just a SIM, but from the reciept it didn't look like it was anything out of the ordinary for them to do.
Looks like incoming is only free from other payas you go packages.

Actually .. I should add, Fido sells sims too. And it is a GSM roaming partner of T-Mobile under "Microcell."
GPRS comes in great on both networks for me

The only reason I chose rogers is I had a not so intelligent friend there to set up my account, and I convinced him to activate a few features which he didn't realize were NOT on the standard pay as you go plan. But ... I didn't say that ;9

Well the reason I asked is cause I used the active sync backup out of a quip on my ipaq a few weeks ago. I had a total battery failure. When I finally got it working again, I used the restore function. And all of my settings came back, password, user information, programs with registry settings. So ... it works differently with smartphone?

I've seen several people discuss sprite backup on here. I have a question about it. Namely what are the advantages fo Sprite vs the built in backup function of ActiveSync ?

Thanks

Another thing you can do, is what I do when a flight attendant acts dumb. As soon as I get off the plane I ask for three of their comment forms and write a long long explanation of what they did wrong and how stupidly they act. Where they can contact me, and I have the counter person staple the whole lot together and sit there while they address it to head office.

Unlocked with GSM Locker (yeah I know I over payed)
It was branded to AT&T, I reflashed it with the generic firmware I got thru the firmware request forum... BEN6-0630-012.img

Country was Canada, Specifically the fringes of civilization in Ontario. (Don't you love visiting older relatives? wink.gif )

Well I guess I will throw in mine. I just got a pay as you go sim for rogers while I was traveling. MPx200 from Ebay, unlocked and firmware flashed it myself. Was going thru and area that only has 900 towers according to rogers. It was not roaming so it was on a Rogers tower. It worked wonderfully. So for my phone ... it did work for me.

Well, mine did that after I tried to hardreset it. I tried reflashing it and that always made it stop doing it. I think mine just doesn't like hard resets.

Well, you could point out that the FAA guidelines don't actually limit the use of cellphones, they limit the use of any device that intentionally puts out radio transmissions. Then tell her that in Airplane mode your cellphone doesn't put out intentional Radio Transmissions. Finally if she is still being annoying. I would say this really loudly, "Well American and Northwest allow the use of cellphones in Airplane mode, are you trying to tell me that your carriers planes don't have the same saftey rating that American and Northwest have?"

Let her try to explain that one wink.gif

I just spent 20 mintues on the phone with Cingular's customer service computer trying to report my dad's phone stolen. Why?, cause he's in Jakarta, and you can't reach technical support from there even tho the phone works. That is .. while he had it. Second, they apperantly like to have a nightlife at Cingular .. so they don't have 24/7 support.

I've had 1 problem with my T-Mobile, and several just .. cause I wanna know, questions, that I have called them with at various times. I am so used to getting someone sensible on the phone in 5 minutes day or night ... I just needed to rant about how glad I am that I have T-Mobile and not Cingular

And yet it makes the monitor at work jump to the point that it makes the scheduler think he's having seizures.... if only it actually did cause seizures in him ...

anyway ... I've never really worried about stuff like this wink.gif
