I am asking maybe the same question others have asked and if I am doing that I am very sorry. I didn't had much of luck finding a good search on it so I am asking you guys the experts. I been told to install WM2K5 but I am not sure if WM2K3 is better or WM2K2. Can anyone help me understand the pro and cons of this 3 OS?

Thanks In Advance!

I have no experience with 2002 or 5 since my 200 came pre-loaded w/2003. I just wanted to say that it runs great (for the record - mine is NOT the Cartman version). I can't be specific regarding wm5 I just know from the things I've read around here, my feeling is it's not for the faint of heart. But I have nothing specific to back that up with...it's just what sticks in my head from all that I've read. It seems to me to be troublesome to say the least. I just want to use my phone and not be hard-resetting and starting over and over again. Have no fear if you choose 2003.

Probably the best balance between a newer OS and a stable OS is WM2003 (generic version if you can find it). WM5 is obviously the newest OS. WM2002 (the original or generic version) is probably the most stable, bug-free OS. WM2003 is a good balance between adding new features and bugs.

I am running WM5 on my MPX with a 1 Gb SD-card, but...I have to agree with the guys above. If you're not interested in the "latest" and "newest" features which comes at a price of a bug or two. The best OS would be WM2003.
The only "real" nice feature of WM5 is memory management. As long as there is availlable memory on either the internal memory or the SD-card which become "part" of the memory pool, programs can use it, or running programs are swapped out.

Most of the "eye-candy" you find in WM5 can be added with third party software (most freeware).

And as allready said: get the generic version which allows you to hot swap SD-cards. Not all versions of the OS did. The same goes for WM2002 BTW. WM5 doesn't allow any swapping of the SD card because the memory is expanded to include the SD card.

I have tried WM2003, WM5, WM6.1 and so far with the versions there increases the look and feeling of the system, however more problems occur.

WM5 and WM6.1 both can take SD card as a real extended memory, you won't see any extra folder, the space is shared, which is one of the best improvements.

But, I can't now remember wm5, but wm6.1 - those you can download, don't have sim toolkit and !! both wm5 and wm6.1 were for some unknown reason NOT recieving SMS from by bank, that I needed to log in. Second bank was ok, but GE Money not, maybe they have some obsolete format, I don't know, but I contacted both operator and the bank, and I found out it's the mobile phone problem, specifically WM6.1, then after downgrade to wm5 still the same, so I'm back to WM2003 and I must say, it's the best fitting OS for the hardware. No lags, WM5 and WM6.1 - I was sometimes waiting like 10sec. for reaction.
