How to add words:
To add a word to the T9 dictionary, switch to multi-tap (ABC) mode, enter your word, and then switch back to T9 mode. T9 automatically adds the word to its dictionary.

Thanks a mill for that priceless nugget abatis, i can now use predictive permanently now! Might i just add that it in addition to the above mentioned instructions, it appears that the text/sms must be sent before it is added to the phone's dictionary for the next time the word is used.
