The loudest situation that I used my jawbone was on a 80ft tower climb. Our 2-way radios failed so we used cell phones to talk to the ground crew. So up on a tower about 80 feet up with 20 MPH winds get real noisy....

jawbone worked great...

when you pull the battery have you shut down the device properly or do you just pull the battery?

I found that if I just pull the battery, I lose the time/date, if I shut down normally, it works fine.

[quote="ddease2
I have the FreeSpeak BT200 now and I cannot get it to work with my mpx200. The version I have is the one for the Tmobile PocketPC. I have the TMPPC also, but I am trying to sell it and move to the smartphone.

What did you need to do, if anything, to get these two to work together? I have model no. FSSPVPocketPC302.

Thanks!

It won't work... the PPCPE version of the freespeak uses a different plug (it has 3 bands instead of 2) then the reguslar headset jack. the moto uses a regular jack, the PPCPE does not.

just copy the existing file on the phone to your PC. The file is located in the windows directory. Then edit the file and place in ipsmapplication datahome on the phone.

<plugin clsid="{79EFB752-CB70-446d-B317-499723482B3D}" name="startmru" height="38">
<mru y="2"/>
</plugin>

above is the stadard MRU from MS. You can add the "icon_size=16" variable to the plugin. You'll also have to adjust the "height" variable accordingly.

you only have to modify one line of XML code to get what you want. Which MRU are you referring too. the standard one or the ATTWS one?

no, do not use an update from a different carrier as it may render your device useless. Likewise, the SPV is a totally different device then the the mpx200. DO NOT INSTALL IT!

you can't copy the files from ROM, even in the SDK.

it can't be fixed. the Microsoft plugin that is used doesn't show anymore then one voice mail, that's probably why MS took that out off the default homescreens. That's also why they change the right soft button to Voice Mail when you get one, it's just there as an indicator, not a counter.

activesync doesn't even convert mp3 files, it's doing nothing more then just copying the file from the desktop to the device. As for the size difference, keep in mind that the file system used on the desktop is not the same as the file system used on the Smartphone, so small deviations in size will occur. Most likely you problem is the codec being used to play the file back. Again, the codec used on Smartphone differs from the desktop codecs. You'll see many posts on these sites about how to encode the mp3s for the Smartphone. Most likely the codec that was used to create the mp3 file added addition data at the end of the file and the Smartphone codec doesn't know how to convert it and it's just dropping that data all together.

depending upon the MRU plugin you are using, sometimes the MRU's are actually stored in the XML home screen file, not the registry. Which MRU are you trying to use? the ATTWS one? or the standard Microsoft one?

thanks but this is real old news. ATTWS released this about 3 weeks ago. They just take 3 weeks to notify users of the update via email. That's funny cause I bought my mpx200 in October 03 and just got a letter the other day telling me congrats and here's what you can do with your device. too little....too late.

the easist way to clear a "left over" voice mail icon (either icon, on the LCD or main display) is to call your phone and leave a test email. Then once you get the new notification of the test voice mail, check your messages. When you are done, make sure to delete the test message and end the call by pressing the * key. Always use the * key to end the call to voicemail.

not one of those reasons would be enough for me....still.

just a few notes from the previous post.

- Warranty...who cares. If it's a hardware fault, I'd expect Motorola to fix the problem. AT&T as the dealer cannot revoke warranty over a software load unless the problem is directly related to the firmware load.

You can expect all you want, if they figure out that you flashed the phone, you warranty is voided. BTW.. a ROM isn't software, it's firmware and is treated totally different then software.

- Update. Highly doubtful AT&T engineers would be discreet enough to lock out the ROM update from users who re-flash...if and when Windows Mobile 2003 shows up. Actually, I'm much more interested in a bluetooth stack/driver from Widcomm than anything else 2003 can provide.

again, this is incorrect. they can build-in the ability to search the current firmware for it's version number. If the version number does not meet the criteria, the ROM will not install. Many other carriers have done it, just search the old archives (on other sites) and you'll find this happened on both the PPCPE and smartphone platforms.

- Full software unlock means tons of applications available.

what's the point of this statement? the phone is already software unlocked by ATTWS.

- Better management of of icons. You are not hard-locked to mMode and ATT. Use a program and see most recently used programs as icons on the display.

Even before the flash you are not locked in to a set of icons. Use a different homescreen that doesn't use the ATT MRU list, use Full Layout which uses the standard MRU list. Likewise, you can remove mmode from the program list too with a little bit of tweaking.

- Clearvue works with original load

this you will have to explain..... I have Clearvue loaded and it works 100%.

- Voice Notes offers better performance

again, explain. The voice recorder has 3 functions, play, record, & stop. what more do you want? what more does the flash give? {nada}

that's what I was trying to find for you and it's not a file, I believe it's part of one of the databases which you cannot modify directly from the phone or PC.

you would need to get help from someone else as I'm not on t-mo network. I use ATTWS and get the notifications as it was intended.

contacts and calendar can not go on SD, as stated, only programs. As for multi contact folders, it will not sync anything except the default Contact folder. You would have to put all contacts in the single folder and use categories to separate them. You can put quite a bit of contacts/calendar events but it's impossible to put a set number on it as each contact may contain more info then next one.

markh74, I agree about the full functionality of the PPCPE, but I too wanted a smaller form factor. Likewise, I want a voice-centric device as I really didn't use the data-centric device 100%. Funny you should ask this question now.... I just upgraded my sx56 with the ATTWS-supplied Windows Mobile 2003 OS ROM and thought I may go back to the sx56. Well, after less then 24 hours I threw the thing in the drawer again. This ROM really sucks. The device is less stable and required quite a few reboots. In fact in less then 24 hours I rebooted 10 times and hard reset once. In addition to these issues, I just could not get use to using the large device anymore. Personally, I think the mpx200 is the way to go unless you use the device for heavy input and/or other data-related stuff.

JasBur, I haen't tried it as I uninstalled Fonix. I've started using the started way of finding contacts, typing in the first 3 characters of a name in contacts. It works really well and I can do it easily while driving. I'll reinstall and try fonix again soon.

jasbar - I'll try that...never thought it would work that way but if so, then that makes fonix even better.

go into profiles and modify the silent profile to not vibrate. This won't make it wait until the call is over but it will get rid of the annoying vibrate. There's no way to make it wait until the call is over.
