You may want to try the ROM update from Samsung, see my post above... but I don't know if that will fix your problem or not. I've never heard of a phone being locked to a single SIM card. Other than a hard reset, I wouldn't know what else to try besides reflashing.

Here are the modem drivers. I hope it's kosher to put 'em up here, if not we'll find out soon enough. Let me know if you solve the problem.

Wow, that's strange, can you get Cingular to replace your SIM card? My wife and I recently upgraded our phones and Cingular sent us new SIMs with the phones at no charge. Just tell them that you lost it or that the dog ate it.

Just make sure you go to a Corporate store for your new SIM card.

Two days ago I was helping a friend's mother set up a "Pay as you go" account with Cingular. All she needed was a SIM and to purchase some minutes since she already has a phone. Customer service over the phone said they would charge $5.95 for the SIM. We decided to go to a store, but as it turned out is was a non-corporate store. They said it would cost $30 just for the SIM. So we went to the corporate owned store 1/4 mile up the road and the SIM was completely free there!

Free was my expectation. I've never paid for a SIM to start with and they've replaced more than one when they weren't working right - free of charge.

Just show them it's not working (your Cingular SIM) and they should replace it.

Still, regardless of the phone, just tell Cingular that your SIM is not working and they should replace it. They never have to know which phone you're putting the card into.

Hmm, I don't know of another firmware ROM. You could try upgrading to WM 6 when it becomes available, see here for info. Other than that, the only thing I can think to tell you is to application unlock your blackjack and then try the band select hack. To app unlock, use the attached file. Unzip the archive and then run the .CAB file from your phone. As to the band select hack, here is the link to that. Other than that, I have no idea how to get your phone working. What is the exact error message you're seeing?
