Rob,

I almost gave up on my MPx200 after upgrading to WM2005 because my battery would not last more than 3 hours. I even bought a new battery off eBay and same thing. Then I noticed in the "battery won't charge" thread here a suggestion to check the "Beam" settings. After changing it to off, my battery now lasts the same as before WM2005. (Settings, Connections, Beam, Recieve incoming beams, set to off.)

During heavy call use i get 8 hours or less. Standby mode, 24-48 hours.

They are here in the Carrier Data Settings section of the FAQs.  Alternatly, you could install the CAB file Abatis put together in this post.
*

I tried running that GPRS CAB file on WM2005 and got the following error:

"Installation was unsuccesful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions."

Any ideas? I've installed all my old WM2002 programs without any problems.

where do you put those files.

You run the setup program from the Motorola MPx200 CD-ROM and it installs it over the ActiveSync (4.1) connection. The Resco versions run fine too, but they're not free.

If you're having problems charging your phone, before taking apart your phone, I would first suggest you go into engineering mode by dialing * #**364# and pressing the middle blue key, and then going to Options > Layer 1B > Force Charge.  Also, I would suggest sending your phone back to Motorola under warranty rather than taking it apart, as that would void your warranty.

Could someone else with WM2005 please test getting into engineering mode? It doesn't work for me, but then maybe I just don't know how to enter the space after the first asterisks in the string. Thanks.

Hi!! Im using WM5 in my mpx200, and i have to say that it runs great!!!
Much better than 2003, simply because it has everything 2003 has (except from file manager, resource, etc and things you can get from third party) and looks much better and runs smoother.

I installed the File Manager and Task Manager from the original MPX200 CD from Motorola (WM2002) and they both work fine with WM2005.

Answering my own question...

WM2005 Internet Explorer has a Connetions option called "Work". It seems that the phone is using my PC for its Internet connection when I've selected it. We'll see when I get my bill from Cingular! laugh.gif

Got WM2005 and GPRS network connections working, whew! However I don't see an option for a passthru network connection, like in WM2002.

Any ideas on how to set that up?

While in the browser, how can I enter an underscore? Cycling through the number 1 key does not have it as an option. This character is very common in email addresses.

Sorry if this is in a FAQ somewhere, I did a search and found nothing.
