Ouch! Has anyone had this problem yet or before: I flashed my phone with 12 and all seemed to be working great and about a week and a half later when I turned on my phone, it completely reset itself. All my contacts were gone but apps are still there. My program list reset itself-i.e. all the default short cuts had been put back (I had organized the shortcuts into folders in the start menu). Not too worried about the contacts as I can re-sync and get those but this will be a pain if this happens continuously. Other apps I'm running are IA Caller ID and I've loaded a couple of skins (themes), SPVMan, SPVinvaders, and tetris.
thanks for any help - great forum, great admins, great place for the best info on this great phone!
Jeff

This is an unusual event. Hopefully it will not happen again. Did you loose the WAP and GPRS settings? If it did happen again you may want to reflash it to clean it up. After reloading everything and your settings, I highly recommend getting or at least trying Sprite Backup. It is a big time saver when something goes wrong. Save Sprite backups to your SD card and you can pretty much be assured of restoring to that point including the reg settings.

Another big recommendation for Sprite. I have used it many times to save myself from doing a complete setup.

The same thing happened to me on the AT&T ROM the 1st or 2nd week I had it. No backup at that time. I use Sprite now...... Has not happened since the first time????

Didn't notice the settings for WAP or GPRS - don't really get on the net. But it was exactly like it was after doing the flash to 12 - UK settings and all. Weird. What all does SPRITE back up exactly? I don't really have that much on the phone in the way of info. I'm a lite user I guess. And my contacts will come back after the next sync.
Also, in the Programs Folder, is there supposed to be an IA Style folder? Is that installed with the new ROM? Thought I got rid of IA Caller ID but that IA Style folder is in there after I flash.

Trust me. Dude. Spend the money. Get Sprite. It backs up the ENTIRE phone (minus the SD card if you have one) and will reset the phone back to EXACTLY the way it was when you backed it up if something were to go wrong. Worth every single penny.

Going to resurrect an old thread here....

My phone (MPX200) just started doing this to me, and I beleive it *may* have started when I dropped it the other day.

Now, every time I turn the phone off and on again, it loses all of it's settings. No contacts, WAP, GPRS, nothing.

Phone is about 18 months old and had been running WM2003.

Well, dropping it certainly puts an ominous tone on the problem. I'd try reflashing the ROM and see if it still does it. If so, it is probably a hardware problem caused by the drop.

The drop may or may not be coincidental. I rarely power off my phone, and the drop did cause it to shut off. Upon power up, it was reset (and took a very long time to come up).

Poking around the device today, I came across this (see attachment). That can't be good. sad.gif

Never seen that one before. I'd definitely flash the ROM and see if it still says that. It may be a damaged ROM chip, or it may just be a weird corruption caused by a power fluctuation when it was dropped or something.

Actually a master reset did the trick. Very strange, indeed. blink.gif
