Hey Everyone,

I have tried to look through the forum here and I see that some people have the MPx200 working with Cingular others don't. I got a refurb MPx200 from Woot the other day. It's a former AT&T model.

I have tried upgrading to WM2003 and WM2005 and I cannot get the phone to work with Cingular. The only network that shows up when I ty to select a network is TMobile.

Maybe I missed a crucial post in the forums which would help me out. If so then I apologize for posting a repeat question. I just want to know what I can do to get it to work with the Cingular GSM network.

Thanks

A lot of Cingular areas use the 850Mhz band. The MPx200 only has the 1800/1900Mhz bands. So if you live in an area that only has the 850Mhz band for Cingular, you won't be able to get a signal on the phone. It sounds like you live in an area that Cingular uses the 850Mhz band, and thus are unable to get a signal.

Is there anyway I can officially find out what my service area is?

According to this:

Shouldn't I be able to get Cingular service on the 1900 band?

I don't know where on that map you live, so I can't tell. The best possible way to find out what the cell tower in your area is would be to call Cingular and ask them. They should be able to tell you if it's 850Mhz only, or 1900Mhz as well.

Can't help you with what towers your area uses etc...just wanted to chime in that the 200 works on Cingular/ATT here in SoCal with no issues.
