hmmm I had this setup without the port assigments and was getting an connected error message saying the server was unable to send on any messages.
Tried the settings oultined here and now it just hangs for awhile at connecting then comes back with a connection error..

I set this up with no port information and it works just fine.

Well i tried it both ways on my ole mpx200 and i still cannnot receive any mails. I get a message that says server unable to read messages.
Also confirmed the pop server settings are correct on the gmail

Make sure in the gmail pop settings you have Enable POP only for mail that arrives from now on selected and not for all mail. I had everything correctly but no dice on getting mail. Then I selected the option mentioned above in the pop setup and it has worked flawlessly since then on my iPAQ 6315.

Yes I had it set to that feature already.
I tend to get a message that makes me think it might be on the google side something about the server being unable to recevie or send messages however after owning a mpx200 for over a year i think it is probaby something flaky on the phone side rather than solid google. I had to hard reset my phone and stilll it still does not work..

Do these settings only with with sm2003? I've tried it with 2002 and I can't get it to work. There are no check boxes for SSL connections on my phone. So far I've done no updating to my phone at all. It's just like the day i picked it up from Att plus a few scratches.

ok....maybe im doing something wrong but i did everything it says and i get no errors but when i send/recieve i dont get any emails when i know some were sent...anything?

When you log into GMail on your computer you see new messages, but when you try on the phone you don't? Do you have POP access set up on GMail?

i got everything working with a nice reboot....stupid me im used to phones not windows style phones... blink.gif

I have been using it. http://www.oemailrecovery.com/open-dbx-file.html and http://www.mail-repair.com/recover-mailbox.html more stable and secure than other programs.

Thanks, slacker and all!. I have just set up the Orange SPVc500 with only a minor hiccup - The outgoing smtp settings required that I checked the box. Works seamlessly next to my hosted outlook account (which is soon to be deleted by the company!.

I got 2002. Could that be the problem? Because as some guy before be said, i havent got this SSL connection checkboxes. This is what error i get:

Check if you have access to the network and if the account info is correct and try again (Translated from dutch)

I am pretty sure Gmail requires SSL

I use it without the port-number added in the setup and without SSL. Works great
