I had the same experience with their Customer Care at an Apple Store. I've never jailbroken my phone, and not sure if I ever will. My issues was a connection port issue where my phone thought something was plugged in that wasn't supposed to be, even though nothing was plugged in. It would ring, but I wouldn't get any other notifications, or be able to play my "iPod" over the speakers. It was really weird, but determined to be a hardware failure. Within ten minutes I was walking out with a brand new iPhone. I too opted for the extended care for the very same reasons!

You should also give SPB wallet a whirl. It is pretty sweet how you can keep your PC and iPhone sync'd wirelessly via gmail.

AMEN Brother! Been using the iPhone 3G for about 2 months and haven't looked back. Only real major complaint on what the iPhone can't do that WM could, is multi-task. That aside, I absolutly love this phone. Still hate everything that starts with i though, and iTunes still sucks, but the iPhone just plain works and works well!

P.S. WOW! You guys still haven't caught my post count wink.gif ph34r.gif

Yes, I am still alive, but life is hectic right now. Anyway, to the point.

I just recieved my case for my Tilt, and it is just the thing I have been missing for my phone to make me feel better. My job is very demanding and physical, it was only a matter of time until something happened to damage my phone. I am pleased with the case as it, in my opinion, gives the phone a more solid feel. That and the fact that I have greater peace of mind with carrying it in my pocket, and the added "bulk" is minimal.

This is great news, now I won't be missing anything on my smartphone that I used on a PPC. Can't wait to try this out on a new phone (if I can decide from all that should be out by the time I get home).

Well it is time for me to deploy overseas again. This time I won't be going on a ship, and it isn't likely that I will have as many communication options as I did before. I am being deployed to a remote location in Iraq that isn't as well built up as a lot of the other "bases" out there. I will be gone for about 7-10 months. I am not leaving the site, though I won't be around for the duration of the deployment. IF and when I get an email established out there, I will forward it along to the other administrators. Feel free to write letters or send packages for the troops, the mailing address is below.

That topic and poll can be found HERE. There still doesn't seem to be a smartphone version available, but I heard rumor that they were thinking about it, or trying it out a while back. That is just rumor though and isn't anything that I got directly from any Landware reps. I am on my way "out the door" to Iraq this week for a pretty lengthy period with no internet so I won't be of much help in trying to get that ball rolling again, but hopefully someone around here will be able to step in on that front. Pocket Quicken is still something I REALLY miss, and wish I could have for my phone. The sync capabilities I had with it on my PPC in the past was great.

Heh, I really don't mind waiting for the Wings since I am going to be "Out of town" and the loop/picture for the next 7-10 months. Hopefully the Wings will be out by the time I get back. Here is hoping for that. I should have plenty of money saved up by that time to be able to get all sorts of new toys...

Only way I know of is by using Papyrus by SBSH. I use it and it pretty much gives you the power of the PPC calendar in your smartphone. I think it is well worth the cost of the program, especially when paired with Facade.

The Media Works Plans and the Smartphone connect will not cover tethering, you will need the more expensive data plan for that. If they find that you have been using your device to tether then I would prepare for a pretty expensive phone bill at the end of the month. I currently use the Media Works200 plan and wouldn't dare tether with my laptop just out of fear of being caught and getting charged overages of sorts even though my plan covers unlimited data use (for my device).

Sometimes I wish I didn't travel internationally so much or I would really consider Sprint. Oh, and the fact that Cingular is the only provider base wide out here. Other carriers cover bits and peaces of base, but nothing base wide...

I wouldn't hold out for any changes. It isn't like before where new people are taking over. The only thing that is changing is the name.

Cingular unlocked my 3125 a while back using 611. All I did was explain that my job has me travel internationally, sometimes with little to no warning. I asked them to unlock my phone incase I was sent to a place that they didn't have any international roaming agreements. They were more than willing and very helpful through the process. I recieved a phone call from the CSR about an hour after my request, and they provided me with the unlock code.

Honestly I would contact them again on it. That is pretty sad that a $60 case starts falling apart like that. I know I am hard on my devices, and that would be unacceptable. I can recommend the Krusell case, but the wife may not like the look of that one as much. I am currently using the Cingular 3125 leather two piece that snaps on the phone, it is very nice to look at and very effective at protecting my phone. I'm not to sure that it would work too well with an i-Mate Smartflip given it's obvious differences with the battery and such.

Given the specs, that will be my next device one way or another, until something comes out to top it (which wouldn't suprise me, but would all at the same time).

Un-freaking-believable!!! I wish I had more time to look into these things like I used to. There are some amazing devices on the horizon. Now here is hoping to the fact that Cingular will pick these beauties up before 08.

This phone is absolutely perfect for what my needs will be upon return from Iraq. Yes, normally I am a flipper kind of guy, but I need something with a quicker method of input, and I strongly prefer the Smartphone over the PPC (mainly because of custom-ability, I am more familiar with the ins and outs, and all the money I have invested into third party software for the SP platform). This phone does seem to have it all. Thank you all very much for the link. Looks like this thread helped more than one of us find their next device(s), or at least broadened the options...

MAN OH MAN OH MAN! This has to be the Mecca of smartphones I have seen to come!!! Only one possible concern right off the bat would be of course battery life, the battery looks kinda weak for what this little thing packs. I still may go with the PPC that you listed though due to the fact I will have a VERY packed schedule that I would like to keep organized on the fly and a KB would help nicely with that. This is impressive though

The zipped file is actually the installer (.cab). You simply put that on your phone (i.e. \Windows\Start Menu) and then execute it from the start menu. Once the installation is done the installer (.cab) file will delete itself and you will have just successfully updated the DST on your 3125. Hope this helps...

Try reinstalling it, LivePVR works fine on mine. However, I have noticed a conflict between LivePVR and XBar3 so if you are using Xbar, I would suggest closing that before running LivePVR.

in abc mode you can also press and hold the key for the number to pop up, that is usually the smoothest method for me.

If Cingular picks this one up, I will be getting it when I get back from Iraq late this year or early next. Pretty much meets everything I am going to be looking for in my next device. I just wish they would have something like that in a smartphone version.

I would like to post a fair warning to those that apply this reg edit. I have been a big fan of storing my emails and attachments to my card along with the IE stuff (cache, history, temp). However, recently I defaulted everything back to the phone memory due to a bug it can cause. The common bug with this with WM5 (this phone particularly) is that when you power cycle your phone, sometimes your card won't load quick enough or properly. The phone will see that these things according to the reg need to be on the storage card, so it will make that directory before the card is read, then once the card is read it will write it as Storage Card 2. You will only be able to access it through a file explorer. This becomes a royal pain in the rear because the way to fix it requires you to rename "Storage Card" to something like "Storage CardA", then power cycle the phone. 7 out of 10 times this will do the trick and you simply go in and delete "Storage CardA" and you are all set. It wasn't bad with my phone for the longest time, but it eventually got worse, and with the slow boot times on my phone it became unbearable at the fact that when I powered my phone off, and then turned it on later I would have to go through this process. Sometimes I would get to Storage CardE before it would catch. Just thought I would throw this out there as a fair warning, along with the note that emails don't take up as much space as you would think (even with attachments, depending on what they are).

I use Binary's SmartExplorer. It is a pretty powerful powerful file explorer that will allow you to rename file extensions as well as change what a program opens with.
