Lot of heavy phone user are now using bluetooth headset. However I have never felt comfortable with headset(i am confident there are some others who would agree) . I am addicted to use speaker phone from landline and my previous nextel phone. I had to ditch nextel to save $$$, but so far I have not been able to find any cell phone with speaker phone that may come close to nextel moto phone speaker quality. I have tried 3 phone so far

MPX200 - it has easy access to speaker phone but volume is not loud enough to use in car or out door. It will disconnect if you flip it back

v400 - speaker is better then other cell but very hard to acess. in oder to access you have to wait to establish call and if you are calling to any business with auto attended then it gets harder sine you have to press ext#.

nokia 6600 - great speaker but .....its nokia! it's candy bar! it's bulky

It may sound very picky, but i am just surprise that no (flip)phone has offered speaker as good as nextel offers. mad.gif their whole line up are built in solid speaker.

If anyone has used cell with solid speaker, please share your opinion

I agree with Gryphon.  If you want to be sure that you can access the full web, stick with the Unlimited Internet.  If you want to try and see if you can get it working with the cheaper plan though, go for it.  If it doesn't work, you can just switch back to the Unlimited Internet plan.  It is possible it will still work depending on your location and other factors.  I had the Unlimited Internet plan on my wife's MPx220, then completely removed a data plan.  It still gets full, unlimited internet access for no charge.  And as Gryphon said, if you can do it with T-Mobile they won't charge you anything extra.  You don't have to worry about any unexpected data charges with them.

I am using unlock audiovox PPC 4100 on T-mobile network. After browsing through fourm, i have figured that instead of paying $20 for internet access , i can downgrade service to tmobileweb (previously known as tzone) for $5.99. But I am wondering weather i keep using same setting i have, or do i need to change setting in connections, I have read that i will need to use proxy keep browsing http site, otherwise i may get slammed addtional data charges.

It will be helpful If someone can confirm it and post or direct me to setting i need.

That solution doesn't really solve zeke009's problem at all because he is using a SMT5600, which does have the 850Mhz band.  There has got to be a different problem going on with the SMT5600 than that.

there are 2 verizon of tri-band smt5600 , one with 850 band (cingular brand) and one with 900.

I have asked same question from verion sales rep , since they have wireless broadband network. They said no, according to the contract cheap plan is only for phone with WAP access with little network activity. They have different plan for laptop access and they charge more ($80) where u gonna use more of their network. My guess is you may will be able internet using phone as modem. If they notice heavy traffic for a vcast they may suspend your account, atleast thats what Verizon does. I am assuming cingular would do th same however i have not glanced mediaworks terms. If they catch you using Vcast ($15 plan) for wireless broadband access($80 plan) .

Any success with getting any Bluetooth Headset to work with PPC4100?

PPc firmware supports bluetooth but it is missing bluetooth chip. However you can add this funcnality by SDIO slot. Socket BT and wifi card are available from seller on eBay.

I would credit it more to the phone than to the unlocking.  They are really just telling you things to get you off their case since most of them are pretty clueless.  i.e., You did something to your phone, not sure what, but that is the cause of all your problems from here on out.  Sorry that I can't really confirm that they are full of it, but it just doesn't make sense that unlocking has anything to do with it considering that reading a 64 SIM would be hardware related, and unlocking does nothing to affect the hardware.

I like to ad my 2 cents.

I had same problem , i was using unlock ATT mpx200 . it was showing roaming icon and displaying att network. cingular was unable to help.

whats is the problem ? = phone you are using does not work on GSM 850 . It is most likely working on 1900 band . Cingular runs it own network only on 850. Since they bought ATT they use ATT's existing towers to run phones that are comapitble with only 1900. therefore it shows you are roaming on ATT network.

Year before now, Cingular did not even allowed to use 1900 band phones. I tried to use mpx 200 on cingular in sep. 2004 and it didn't even picked network of AT&T or tmobile as roaming. then I tried using it in Jan 2005 after the merge and it worked with little bugs.

Solution = you will need 850 band phone to get rid of roam and at&t network.

I am making the switch now. My remaining question, which no Cingular agent could answer, is if I sign up for the MediaNet Unlimited data package - does this include teathering to my laptop or are there extra charges for doing this?
