I FOUND IT!!!!!!

Once you downloaded Opera Mini - Go to:

Application Data/Tao/Intent/App/Jam/Midlets/Operamini

There is a file without a description. On my phone it has an icon i usually see with a txt file. When i right clicked it i saw it was an executable jar file. Then I followed Abatis' instructions. I made a shortcut and moved it to Windows/Startup/Accessories.

When I tested it it gave me a failed to install error. I clicked OK and There it was!!!!

Now lete's see if this browser is worth it.

QUOTE (kampf @ May 4 2006, 12:16 PM) *
I went to install Mini, and the site recognized my phone as a Palmone Treo 650. Next, after I asked for an alternate version, I was asked whether I wanted a low or high memory version. I chose high, because even though the SDA doesn't have a lot of RAM, it's probably more than most phones mini is used on.

It started up fine, but the text is incredibly small, so I changed it up one level. Unfortunately, after also changing it to the proper network setting, I was unable to get it to connect. I will do some more testing once I figure out how to run the java applications, or where they are stored. I have looked in every menu I can think of, every nook and cranny, and can not find where to launch the Java launcher. Paying for the Mobile browser seems like a better option right now.

I couldn't find the java launcher either. I went to mini.opera.com and installed. the java launcher is somewhere because I found it in the Task Manager afterward. then after powering up it's gone. I went back to min.opera.com again and tried to download it again. I answered no on confirmation and the Java launcher popped up. I like the browser (I used extra large font) but too much trouble to get it going.

I'm about to ask a stupid question. How do I know if my SDA supports Java?

google.com/pda got me in, but it's not making searches. Keeps saying the connection was lost. Other sites work so it's not the connection.

Should I be using a better browser like Opera?

I suggest going to a T-mobile store and checking it out for yourself. I did that and the SDA sold itself. The keys are a little close but I'll get used to it. the sound was fine for me, but I'm just happy to have music on my phone. good luck.

QUOTE (S_Dot @ Mar 28 2006, 09:00 PM) *
Hi I am also new to the forum as well. I too want to purchase the 8125, but Cingulars data and text messaging plans are to expensive. I want to use the 8125 with T-Mobile. I heard that there is a double lock on this phone. Will I be able to use the 8125 through T-Mobile and be able to use all of there services on the phone without any problem(i.e. web browsing, picture messaging, text, push email, edge, gprs)? I know they have the MDA, but I just dont like the look of it or the keypad. Has anyone used the 8125 with T-Mobile? If I do get it unlocked, what are the steps I need to take to set it to work successfully on T-Mobile. Also how can I unlock the 8125 myself? You also mentioned the cingular branding photos and settings...what settings cant i change? Can i set this device to recognize all of T-Mobiles services and settings? I dont care about the Cingular photos...I just want to use Tmobiles services. Please respond. Thanks in advance

If you're set on T-mobile why not just get the MDA?

My cingular contract is up and the best deal I could find is to switch to T-mobile for the MDA. I read all the reviews but can't find what the users at MGN think. Is T-mobile that much better than Cingular. Thanks for input!!!!

Sean,

I'm not much of a tech guy. I bought my mpx200 a few years ago and used your site to help me get the most out of the phone. thanks for making this site. Best of Luck in everything you do.

The email is great, but I rely more on syncing with outlook. I have every possible contact at my fingertips. My friend dropped his phone in the toilet and it fried. Now he's griping on how he has to re-enter all the names. I'll never have to do that (unless I drop my desktop in the toilet)

Sure, lets apply it to a "time line"

The SMT5600's line ends on October for both blue and orange, where as the MPx220's line contiunes to go uninterupted through the end of the time line, indicating that there isn't a planned discontinue date at this time.

Gryphon - Since MPX220 will continue do you think it will be upgradable to WM5?
