Hi guys, glad you're still around after all these years. My shoebox of unused Smartphones continues to grow as I have left my SMT5600's (and Mpx220's and 200's)behind and moved to the Samsung Blackjack. So far, so good...Anyway, some web sites are requiring Java versions "1.4.2 or higher" to facilitate their pages (e.g.-NOAA.GOV-radar maps and stuff). These pages don't assemble nicely as they did on my SMT5600 and the "upgrade" feature w/in the Blackjack's preinstalled Java app leads you to come crap game store. Does anyone out there have any suggestions?
PS- A BIG thanks to all our service folks out there in the world defending our constitutional republic...keep droppin' the hammer on 'em!

There have been quite a few people (inc. me) having trouble with java installed on the blackjack. The older mobile versions of google maps and gmail wouldn't run on the blackjack... the solution was to use an IBM Java client for smartphone, here is a link to that, packaged up with the (now outdated) gmail and google maps midlets. I don't know the version, but it solved problems I was having with another java app.

I can't seem to find the direct link to the IBM java developers site...I'll keep looking and let you know when I find it...you may want to try these in the meantime:

here's another mention of the IBM smartphone Java client, from
http://www.blackjackusers.com/forum/viewto...;highlight=java

" OH, very important: the RDP client will NOT install with the built-in Blackjack crappy Java client (not sure about the VNC client - but probably goes for it as well). You have to download the free J9 Java client from IBM. If you google you can find this. If not, let me know. You do have to register on their website but it's free. Once you extract the ZIP file to your storage card, you run the 'emulator' in the 'bin' directory. You then add the tsmobiles client to it and wallah. I even was able to make a shortcut to the new Java client for my Start menu. I did this through the Explorer from Activesync. Let me know if you need directions on that too. "

I hope this helps.
