Now we just need a US carrier to implement widespread UMTS data for true 3G data. Then I will jump ship on Verizon and CDMA and come back to GSM. Until then, I will stick with my super small i730 and blazing EVDO (both of which I'm using to post this). EVDO is still faster than UMTS will be though. I got a speed test at 968kbps the other day over EVDO. I think the max of UMTS is near 350kbps or so.

Well remember when Cingular rolls out UMTS it will be cuppled with HSPDA which will blow EV-DO away...If I understand correctly HSPDA gets speeds in the MBPS range....I need to find a article about it and read up...
