Try this, it worked on my 3125.

HKEY_Current_USER->Control Panel->Backlight->Values->KeylightTimeout
Mine was set to 15000. I believe it is 15000 milliseconds, ie. 15 seconds.
I set it to 30000 and you guessed it the keypad stayed lit for 30 seconds.

If you aren't familiar with changing registry settings, proceed with caution...you can make your phone into a nice shiny paperweight.

Good luck...

Thanks for the info, That did the trick.

Here is a list of registry edits you can perform on your device. I am not responsable if you hose your device and I do not take credit for these, just compiling a list in one place for ease of use.

\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\KEYPAD

change the KB_LIGHT_TIMEOUT from 200 to a higher number for a longer time out or to a lower number for a shorter timeout.

I don't have the option for the KB_LIGHT_TIMEOUT in the reg. I did a reg. search and I couldn't find it. I have this HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\ . Is that something I can add in?
I did change my phone form grid view to list view, thanks for the info.

I just tried disabling keypad light in the Settings>Power Management>Light Sensor on my 3125 and it now will light up under any condition. So try it disabled. The Qtek will not do the same thing.

I have no problem getting the Keypad to light up, I just want it to stay lit longer than 10 sec. The Power Management Settings for Backlight Time Out is just for the screen not keypad.

See if this works for you...

Settings --> Power Management --> Backlight timeout on battery (or AC)

I tried Power Management and had it set to NEVER on both battery and AC and the keypad backlight still
goes out about 10 sec. I even tried differant time settings. I'm wondering if there is something wrong with my phone or is that how it is?

Thanks for the info,
Tony

Mine is one big E and little e over the strength bar. That's how it is on the external screen also.

On another subject I've read where the phone goes into idle mode after ten minutes or so? People were not getting calls or missing voice mail. Mine was closed and sat overnight and I was able to call it and rang and I left a voice message and it gave me the you got mail sound. So, I guess thats fixed too?

I just picked up my 3125 today and the BT voice dailing works on it. Headset HS820.
I'm undecided if I like the phone or not. The Navagation pad is to small and hard to use.
Nothing like on my MPX220. But, I'm still playing with it. smile.gif

Here is something I came across on Cingular Customer Forums. http://forums.cingular.com/cng/board/messa...message.id=3472
This may be old news.
This guy is specifically talking about the 3125.

You need to start with the first post and read them all, there's not many to read.

""wow. I just changed my connection from wap.cingular to isp.cingular, as described here:
Now I am getting speeds like 747 kbps, 1.097 latency, 12.029s download for 1 MB file. just wow.
I'm not going to get charged extra for that am I?
EDIT: I should mention I have the $19.99 BM ME NET MAIL UNL plan.

I went to http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed?jisok=1 and tested my phone on 200k dl
results were
48kbit/sec
2.199s latency
34.3s d/l time.
I dont know if thats good or bad. smile.gif

OK...lastly the speed test compared to the 220. 10 seconds to load MSN's Search Local (compared to 10 seconds on the 220). 8 seconds to load the first 10 results (compared to 13 on the 220). Map loaded in 16 seconds (compared to 18 on the 220). So, there you have it...Edge speed in action.

So far I like most of what everyone has to say. I was hoping that the Edge speed would be little better than that. I guess it all depends on how important speed is for you.
Kinda looking at the 8525 (3G) but 300-400$ for a phone is kinda steep for just wanting a cool phone. smile.gif Thats was one of reason I bought the 220 because I thought it was cool. I had to take back to BB and get it replaced 2 times and I sent it in to Motorola for waranty work and been pretty good for a year untill recently, speaker phone died and it will only charge from data cable. So, I guess 99$ is a good deal and a lot of upgrades from the 220. I see Best Buy has it for 99$.
Thanks for all the info and If I do get one I'll post my comment about it.

Long time listener first time caller.

I'm getting ready to upgrade my MPx220 and I'm looking at the 3125. I read the comments from another member comparing the 3125 to the MPx200 and I liked everything that was said. I just have a couple questions.
Is the 3125 faster at surfing the internet? The MPx220 is so slow I don't know why anyone would even bother. Anyone know if there is a 3G ver. or some other flip phone?
I also read somewhere that the 3125 is sometimes slow to responed. I think they were talking about when using it as an mp3 player that when you press one of the outside buttons that there is a delay and sometimes you don't know if pressed it hard enough or not, so you press it again and you end up skipping past what your looking for.

Thanks for any info,
Tony
