My SPV E200 has started to come up with the ubiquitous error message Unable to read Contact Data!

(error code F0009859)

101:200:567

Nothing i do seems to help, and as with other phones, this makes the phone less than useless. Reading the answers to this problem with other phones it seems i need to do a hard reset.

Can anybody tell me how this is acheived on the SPV E200? Running Smartphone 2003 V4:20.0

Thanks

First of all the mandatory warning...Hard Reset is tricky business and you will wipe out your personal data and apps. (And also some apps that came with the phone).

The instructions for your phone are the same as that for the Orange SPV E200. In case you need more detailed instructions, search for E200 Hard Reset.

Anyway, Here it goes..

- Switch off the phone, and make sure that you have an SD card in slot
- Hold down the Record/Memo button
- While holding that down, Hold down the Power Button
- The screen will show something like found SD card and then prompt you to press any key.
- When you see that message, quickly Push down on the Action key (Joystick - Center - Push it down) and hold it for a second.
- If you see a screen with a listing of numbers and number 8 with Erase IPSM, you are all set. (Incase you see a screen with multiple colors then you will have to repeat the process all over again)
- Select 8 and wait for the phone to do its job.
And ths is from amart at PDAPhoneHome (found here):

Hard Reset Smartphone Xphone
The previous post is a bit wrong, that is why it took them 8 times to get it right!

1: Power Off Phone
2: Hold down record button (for audio notes)
3: Power on Phone
message comes up: "press any key to enter boot loader"
4: Let go of record button
5: Push and hold down the joystick button

At this point, you're looking at a menu with 1->8 on it, select 8 and the phone should hard-reset.

If you end up at a red/green/blue screen, you've got it wrong, and you'll need to whip the battery off and start from scratch!

Hope that helps.
