You mean the original Windows Mobile 5.0 it came with? That wouldn't be an update. Not sure you have done this already but did you try a hard reset?

If it still doesn't work, then just sell for scraps and get another one. No use frustrating over this. Besides, what if you there is an emergency phone call and your phone won't work the right way?

I thought installing a fresh copy of windows mobile 5.0 Maybe that would solve the problem? How do I install the new windows anyway?

I have tried to do a hard reset.

Glad to see that everything is once again working the way it should be now, but that is about the strangest problem that I have seen in a long time. Good to know that there is a somewhat simple fix tho.

Damn, it think I shouted too early blink.gif the problem is back mad.gif maybe installing windows 2005 would help?

Maybe somebody knows what could be the problem. When I try to sign in throught MSN messenger on my T-Mobile SDA, it starts connecting but in the end it gives a message: Sign-in to MSN Messenger Service failed because the service is temporarily unavailable. Try again later.

Maybe I should update my MSN or something? Before I updated to the new ROM everything was working fine.

The IE works fine thought, opens pages etc.. blink.gif

I'd try updating the ROM from here and see if that does anything. If not, it's probably a hardware problem.

Thanks mate! That helped and everything seems to be working fine now! CHEERS smile.gif smile.gif

I have the old version of the T-Mobile SDA. http://www.smartphonehistory.com/specs.php?UID=17

And it's completely screwed up dry.gif when somebody calls me it hangs up itself, sometimes when I look at the phone I can have 15missed calls. My friend tell me when they call me the phone hangs up itself, and they can only reach me after 5 tries. Somethimes the phone takes the call itselt even me not knowing it, and then everybody tells me that they heard what I was speaking about (the phone took the call itself)

Then the other problem is when I call somebody the phone starts to move throught folders itself, I dial the number and it starts to make all crazy things, go to open call history, closes it. Opens SMS messages, closes them etc... When I look at the screen everything is opening and closing.

Tried to make the hard reset but it didn't help, maybe the windows is faulty and I should try and reinstall it? mellow.gif

Try leaving it on the charger overnight and see if it will start charging eventually. Some people with the 8125 have had a problem with the battery going low and the phone not charging unless you leave it on the charger for 6 hours or so. The same thing may be happening with your SDA.

Thanks! Charged it with the wall charger (I usually charge it from the PC) and everything started to work.

Is your phone failing to boot and so you're trying the method of holding down the two soft keys while powering the phone on? 'Cuz if you're phone will boot and make it to the start menu, there is a "clear storage" utility that is easier to use...IF you can get to it.

Otherwise, if you can't fully boot the phone, and are doing the first method, then are you allowing it some time after you've pressed the zero? If I remember right, after I pressed the zero the i-mate screen showed up on mine too for a bit before the reset finished doing it's thang.

Yup, thanks mate got everything resetted now! But still havent fixed the problem...about that in a new thread sad.gif

I don't think it has to be. The MPx200 was the only phone I've seen that suffered when it wasn't. But if it's possible to do so I would just to be sure.

Allright, thanks. But I cant manage to make the reset mad.gif the black screen appears press 0 to restore to factory settings etc. But when I press "0" nothing happens, the T-Mobile screen comes up..

When you do a hard reset to the SDA does the battery has to be fully charged?

My T-mobile SDA was working allright before and everything seemned to be fine. The battery drained and the phone turned off as usual, I tried to turn it up again and again and it did but went off again (because of the battery)

Now I came home and I cant power it up. It seems to be dead, when I connect the charger it will not charge. What could be the problem?

That's interesting...and disappointing. I've attached the .mp3 ringtone that I tested in the two locations I mentioned in my post above. So, I know it works on my phone. If you're up for it, try this particular ringtone in those two locations and see if IT works on your phone.

My working theory is that there is maybe something not quite right with the particular ringtone you're trying. I've never used a T-Mo SDA myself, but I'd be really surprised if it can't handle .mp3 ringtones when the i-mate version can.

I just did a quick Google search and found information that says the SDA does support .mp3 ringtones and does so WITHOUT any reg edits. The location for the ringtones were also identified as exactly the same as already mentioned in this thread.

Good luck!

[attachment=2515:attachment]

Thanks for the reply mate. Downloaded your ringtone and dragged it into the "Sounds" folder. And it still doesent show up. Dragged one .wav ringtone in that folder aswell and that one shoved up.

How can that be, that my phone doesent support .mp3 ringtones? blink.gif dry.gif
Oh and! I got some information that I have the old version of the SDA.

http://msmobiles.com/news.php/3100.html

Maybe mine doesent even support .mp3 ringtones?

My i-mate SP5m is a cousin of your SDA and my ringtones are here:
\Application Data\Sounds

Mp3 ringtones work fine from there (that's on the phone - not the storage card).

Smeg is right, if you want to store it on your storage card, then just put it here:
\Storage Card

Mp3 ringtones works just fine from there as well.

Thanks for the reply's mates. Transffered the Mp3 ringtone into the Application data=>sounds folder but it still doesent appear to be in the ringtones list huh.gif

Windows media player playes the file and everything. Maybe this phone doesent actually even play mp3 ringtones? unsure.gif mad.gif sad.gif

I made a new folder named "My sounds" on to the memory card. And dragged some MP3 songs via activesync.

Windows media sees all the songs but they dont appear in settings->sounds.

Why is that so?

I agree. I am constantly getting comments from friends and random people about my phone. They seem to be intrigued by it, and amazed. That just furthers my belife that the Cingular 3125 (HTC Star Trek) will launch the WM smartphone into the mainstream consumer market if the price is right and if they use the right marketing approach.

There arent many "HTC Star Trek's" moving on ebay... sad.gif

For something a little cheaper and not as good looking, but with more features, you could check out the T-Mobile SDA. It has pretty much the same features as the Smartflip; WM5, QVGA screen, etc. But it also has wifi built-in. If you look hard and take your time you can get one for around $150 on ebay.

Hmm....dont like that one really, got any more suggestions? rolleyes.gif

Almost any Smartphone since the MPx200 is going to have better features than it did (BT, thumb board, wifi, QVGA screen, etc). Something good looking really depends on you. I can make many suggestions depending on how much you're wanting to spend and what your personal preference is. If you had the MPx200 I'll assume you prefer having a flip phone. The only other two real options after the MPx200 are the MPx220 and the i-mate Smartflip aka Qtek 8500. The Smartflip is a much sleeker, feature rich phone, but that comes at an increase in price. The MPx220 is older, has WM2003, and there are a few flaws that cause some to reject it as a phone. But it's less than half the price.

Thanks, I was thinking about the QTek 8500 aswell. It looks quite cool, but is it worth the money? Dont have any preferation yet, can be a usual phone aswell (not a flipflop). Maybe you could suggest something cheaper? Would'nt like to buy the mpx220 thought, seems to be too old..

Allright chaps, my good mpx200 died sad.gif sad.gif and its time to move on. It was a good phone, but I did-nt like that it was slow in some moments.

I liked that it was good looking and I could use msn, watch divx movies and install games etc.

Maybe somebody could suggest something the same good looking, with the same (or even better features) smartphone.

Could somebody explain how does the installing look like?

Thanks.

Edit-Please don't ask for firmware files, we won't give it to you and it is against forum rules. Thanks.
