Where are your contacts in your Outlook address book?. I think that it only synchs itens under the Contacts folder as opposed to the 'Global Address List' or 'Outlook Address Book' or any other hosted services you might have.
Just a thought.

Thanks, slacker and all!. I have just set up the Orange SPVc500 with only a minor hiccup - The outgoing smtp settings required that I checked the box. Works seamlessly next to my hosted outlook account (which is soon to be deleted by the company!.

Hey there,

Is the a jvm for mpx200? I've tried looking, but have given up. I would like to use a java program but after much searching it seems i need a jvm to do so. It would be nice to send a url along with your reply. Assuming there is on.

I have searched but to no avail. I believe tat the JVM available for WM2003 is not compatible with a Smartphone - just pocket PCs.

Have you tried a Hard Reset?. That should take your phone back to the factory build (i.e fresh out of the box). Make sure your phone is fully charged but NOT 'On Charge' when you do it.

New Bluetooth security flaw found
Posted Jun 3, 2005, 11:02 AM ET by Peter Rojas

Then as the devices go through a new pairing process a hacker could grab the new link key and then feed it into a software program that would run through all 10,000 possible access PIN codes. Once the hacker hits the right PIN (something which should take less than a second on a PC), they could then take control of the target device. Obviously won’t work if your phone or PDA isn’t paired with another device in the first place.
*

On the subject of PIN numbers:
I have an Orange SPVC500 with Bluetooth and am not aware of any way to change the PIN. As far as I recall it is either 1111 or 1234 by default - it has been a while since I paired (bonded!!) with another phone. Orange "do not support the Bluetooth Service" and will not help. Am I missing a setting here?

Well done you bugger!. Quick question, though, is the Audiovox SMT5600 the same phone as the (UK) Orange SPV500?. I have this being a UKian. They look the same but do they have the same features?. I also have an MPX200 on WM2002 that I use as a standby(battery etc) and think that the Moto is by far the better looking phone but maybe suffers from the build (Carphone warehouse had mine for 7 months until they gave me a new one - currently unsupported or sold in the UK!). The SV is pretty damned solid though.

Just a general thought.

40 kbit/s

2.37 latency

41.699 d/l time on the 200k test.

Rock on!

Seriously though, in the UK they are shipped with the phone. Ebay might be your best bet.

For Orange UK I used "at+cgdcont=1,"IP","orangeinternet"
so I assume that you would need:
"at+cgdcont=1,"IP","BSNL"

I activated the modem:
On the phone navigate to accessories>modemlink and select connection type as 'USB' and select menu>activate. Do not press 'done' or the connection will be closed.
Then connect the phone to laptop via USB cable. Make sure that Active Sync is disabled. Run the 'Add Hardware'Wizard and install smartfon.inf manually (i.e point at it from a known location, I believe that it is on the companion CD.

Once installed, and with the modem link still running navigate to Control Panel>System>Hardware and click Device Manager>Modems.
Right click on the modem (make sure you get the right one! - mine says:
Smartphone 2002 Wireless USB Moded (#2 because I have installed twice!)

Right click properties and select Advanced Sheet.
Ad the string as seen above: "at+cgdcont=1,"IP","BSNL"

Next Create a new internet connection > select set up manually>next
Select Connect using a dial up modem >next
Select <your modem> and deselect any other modems (e.g. a previously installed or on board modem) the select next.
Under ISP name just name the connection whatever you want e.g. 'My MPX Roaming etc.' next>Under Phone number type *99# then hit next
Under Username and Password add your details - I actually left mine blank for Orange. Deselect/select the two options below as appropriate (I deselected mine!). Click next
I added as a shortcut on desctop. Click Finish.

The standard dial up box should open with options to dial (add user and password here if not automatically added).

The main problem I had with the 2002 MPX200 was that it would deactivate if not used for a while so check that on your phone. When this happens the connection often defaults to using your on board modem - you need to force the change by viewing the network connection properties and reselecting the required modem.
I aslo found that on each connection I had to reinstall the driver again; I had neither of these problems with my SPV500 running 2003 SE.

Obviously these setings are for my own ISP (Orange) but I thing that the strings are pretty universal. I would suggest checking with your ISP if you run into trouble:
Check:
APN Name
Dial Up phone number.

Good Luck,

Barry

Hi, I use a web based application that requires a Jeode Java Virtual Machine (basically it puts your building management system on the Web).

I have found a couple of JVM for Windows Mobile 2003 SE but apparently they are only compatible with Pocket PCs (mainly IPaq). The CAB file will not install as it was 'not intended for this device'.

Does anyone know of a JVM that can be run on Smartphone?.

I have a Motorola MPX200 running 2002 and also a SPV C500 running 2003 SE.

Thanks!,

Barry

Pop a SIM card in the phone that is not from the phones origional carrier and see if it starts up without problem.  If it turns on in full with no errors then it is unlocked.  If you get an invaled SIM error Please enter unlock code, then that is a locked phone...

Thanks! - I was getting confused with application unlocking!. On that subject, I havre a UK Orange MPX200 and cannot app unlock using Alphaflux Unlock.CAB. I saved to the phone and run program and got the following:
//
INFO:
Installation failed. The program or setting cannot be installed because it is does not have adequate system permissions. Please contact your service providor for more information.
//
Have they tigthened up on this or has any one else had any trouble?

Ta,

Barry

Evening all!,

I have recently reverted to my Orange MPX200 from a 3G Sony Ericsson Z1010 on orange (don't ask!).

I have my hosted Outlook synching to my phone via MIS all fine and dandy BUT...

I cannot easily save attachments viz:

jpg file (133kb): The phone recognises the application and can view it in internet explorer but there is no easy way to save. I checked the properties and located it under IPSM\Application Data\volatile and was able to copy the whole folder to a temp directory via Smart Explorer and then move to a sensible directory (you cannot view the volatile subdir?

wav file (15kb): No problem - option to save to default directory.

CAB file - I mailed myself Alphaflux unlock.CAB but the file size showed 1 kb as opposed to 333kb but when I click the name and you get the little red 'download' arrow over the file icon nothing ever happens.

I realise that I need an app on the phone to be able to use these attachments but surely a CAB file is known?.

You can see where I am coming from: if I am at a remote terminal with no data lead I would like to be able to mail myself a file and then install from there.

Equally, I am going to buy a clear view doc viewer product (xls, doc etc) but want to know that I can save these attachments to my SD card.

Any thoughts or applications that are available - I gave it a good search!

Many thanks for the excellent resource

Barry

I may be a bit naive here, but how does one tell if a phone is locked or unlocked?. I will have a look round the site if there is an answer first!

I used the SIM Manager program to export SIM phone numbers to Contacts.  Then I synchronized with Outlook on my desktop PC; edited the contact list to remove duplicate postings (most were unwanted, but not all) then synchronized again.  Anyone with a faster method should let me know--please  wink.gif

I have just had to do this and I can concur. I originally tried it the other way and got 3 - 4 duplicates. At the end of the day this is the fastest way and some hans cranking is inevitable - better to do it on the PC!

Ditto to that, smeg.
I have just had a replacement handset that required a hard reset after about a week. I failed when the phone was not fully charged although it started to reset and crashed. I charged it overnight and it worked it the morning.
BTW, does anyone know why the damn things need to be reset anyway?
