well here is my case and a solution. it should work if u r using wm2003se.

cingular reps have the capability to send some info packets to your fone. then you are required to remove the battery while fone is on, and leave the battery out for one minute or so.
what i think the packet does, it sends ENS info to your 64k sim.

my case:
wm5
64k
attws 5600

situation 1:
wm2003se
32k
attws 5600

no roaming, locks to cingular most time.

situation 2:
wm5
32k
attws 5600

no roaming, locks to cingular most time.

situation 3:
wm5
64k
attws 5600

roaming whether attws or cingular, locks to attws.

but two days ago, when i called to complain about the network issues, the rep said she will send some info to my fone and i have to do the above mentioned steps. now the fone locks to cingular, but the roaming sing is still there with a small g on top of it.

thus from my experience, if u have wm2003 and have cingular send u the ens info, ur fone should stop locking to attws and should stop roaming.

cheers

I have a smt5600 from ATT with wm5, unlocked by imei uk. Today I was in a cingular store and I got to exchange my 32 bit sim to a 64 bit. I soon as I got reception, my roaming icon appeared. It didnt matter what network I was on, cingular or ATT, it still was there. From what I understood thou, ppl had the sign cuz they had cingular sims on att smt5600. I never had this problem when i had my 32 bit sim when i locked into cingular, when i locked into attw i will get that sign.

i dont know what to make of it.

any feed back.

Hello all,

I have a client of mine who is interested in getting a a PPC Phone. So I found this link which has most of the PPC Phones out there.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/dev...e/americas.mspx

But now I know she will contact me back with more information that she will probably need to make her choice.

Im into smartfones, not ppc. Thus I thought maybe you guyz can shed some light on whats out there and whats recomended.

Im a technical guy so give me ehat you guyz have. Also lets just say that we will stick with the original or officail roms, no unofficial ones cuz then when anything goes wrong its my @$$ that needs to fix it LOL.

I uped my mpx200 to wm2003 so im cool with such stuff but I dont want to be a tech support for someone elses fone.

anywayz i hope you guyz help out.

Cheers

hey i didnt want to start a new thread since this might have been disscused before. i tried to search with no help.
anyways,
here is what i have noticed. i had a contact lets say called "John 333" which i saved on my contacts and sim. then for some reason i changed that contact from "john 333" to "john". i did this change only in my contacts leave the one in the sim as "john 333". when john calls me, the external LCD shows john 333 instead of john.

any comments. is it doing that cuz its faster to access the sim rather than the internal fone memory?

please comment.

cheers

1. goto your gmail account, settings, pop, enable pop. dont forget to save.
2. goto your inbox on the mpx200. menu, options, account setup, menu, new.
3. type in your email address as in: user@gmail.com, hit next.
4. put it ur user name, i have it without the "@gmail.com" only the user name.
5. password, check save if u would like, no domain.
6. pop3 server type, account name whatever u choose.
7. network: the internet, next
8. incoming pop.gmail.com:995
9. outgoing smtp.gmail.com:465
10. check both, at least i have. the SSL and outgoing server auth, next.
11. download: your choice.

okik here is one solution, cingular uses this number for Qman's method. i emailed my self from gmail to the fone. tongue.gif
36245. u sms that number a add the email address add a space after the email address, and voilla. still working on the gprs version of it. what that's gonna mean, in some sense u will be able to email without having to use external pop servers. one step closer to mms in the mpx200. attach a file, email to number@mobile.mycingular.com or att or tmobile.

okik here what i have done, i tried Qman's method once and will try again later. for now i tried following your direction flashkraker. inbox, new, then i have 2 choices, sms and activesync, i chose sms, changed to ABC inout mode, typed in the email address and same msg i reported before.
what do u chose after inbox, new.

you know what sucks thou, in the nokia 3650 i had 2 options. one was sms sent to email, the other was email to email. I didnt have to enter anything in the nokia. i used to use thier photomessaging gateway.
u know since my brother has it, i will check and let u know. i think it was photo.mycingualr.com outgoing and incoming.
i think that is it, just got to test it and input back to u guyz.

cheers

i dono if this will make sense to you or not. think of wap tunnel as water filter. think of your gprs with your cell company as the water.

in order for the water to flow, through the filter or without the filter you will need a water subscription.

wap tunnel is like the filter thats gives you better access to wap supported pages. you will still need to use your networks data services to connect to waptunnel's ip.
t-mobile used to offer this for free, thats y you could use thier network to connect to waptunnels ip. but now they charge you for using thier network.

basically there is no such thing as free wap. the only thing free is the use of the waptunnel gateway "filter".

cheers

hello there,

im trying to use an international smsc since cingular has no agreements with my country, thus i cant sms to Oman. hence i was changing the sms gateway to an international open sms gateway but the call barring feature doesnt allow me to use international since it is barring them. when i try to change it asks me for the call barring password. is it something i should get from cingualr cuz on one other post somone called cingular and they had no idea what he was talking about.

any ideas.

cheers

i dont know how then wm2003 was ripped for the mpx200, but from what i noticed that the c500 image file contains several cabs. My idea was to try and extract the mms cab, and hopefully install on my mpx200 with wm2003. anyways, since u say its very hardware specific then it might not be possible.

thanx thou.

Hello all,

I was wondering if it is possible to port the OS update that orange came out with for the C500 to the mpx200.
I got the file downloaded, got the nbf file, but cant read it. I tried looking in the internet and all i found was this:
I got to er2003edit, i think that what it was called, in order for me to extract the image, i had to put it the offset bytes, but i didnt know how to figure that one out.

any comments how to go about it.

cheers

yep i have the same problem. i had a nokia 3650, and i used to email from it in 2 ways.
1st: type in an email address in the text message to field.
2nd: email from my fone through my cingular email, which was number@mobile.mycingular.com

sometimes i would be some where with no internet and want to send an email. i would enter the email menu, enter the address and send. i didnt use pop3 cuz all what i had was yahoo and hotmail accounts with no pop3 access. the ppl i send the email to get the above number@mobile.mycingular.com with my number. i didnt need to enter any po3 info for cingular in my fone. now with my mpx200, i have to enter a pop3 for cingular, and they dont have pop3 servers. also i cant type in an email address in my sms to field, im stuck.

any help
