Wow, you are the first person that I've heard that actually liked the Automatic profile; I found it to be so unreliable to make it completely unusable... probably why Samsung left it off.

I had the mpx200 for 6 months and switched to the i600 recently. I've been a long time Verizon customer because their service seems to work everywhere I go; only t-mobile has come close to matching their service. Utlitimately, the service coverage is the most important thing to me so I switched back from t-mobile to Verizon; hence the change from the mpx200 to the i600.

I originally went for the mpx200 because of the form factor and free unlimited internet access at t-mobile. But, the coverage has not been as good, the data speed is very slow compared to Verizon, and the MPX200 has some really annoying quirks which I'm glad to be rid of. Frankly, I've concluded that for me, the i600 + Verizon is the more usable solution even though it is more expensive.

Overall, I think the i600 is a better phone than the mpx200. Even the form factor is actually better because it is thinner than the mpx which makes it fit more comfortably in my rear pocket.

So, my advice is to always pick the carrier that does the job and then pick the phone.

I'm using the unlimited plan; works great. I had an mpx200 with T-Mobile and while internet access was basically free for unlimited, it was slow. ATT coverage is so bad here it is not an option.

On the West Coast, T-Mobile has much better coverage than AT&T.

And with T-Mobile, you can save your $20 a month too because just about anything you need on the Internet can be accessed just by using their WAP plans! So, you can get pretty much free unlimited data!

That hack is for a different issue. It does not fix the problem when the MPX200 user closes the phone to hangup. And, man, is it ever loud at the other end... sad.gif

Keeper's Quest from UIEvolution is a nice puzzle game that plays great on the MPx200.

Let's see, you want to screw them, but you don't want to get screwed. Interesting philosophy...

The idea that you can buy the phone from Amazon for cheap and cancel the contract without being required to return the phone or pay more for it is fluke in their tracking systems. Eventually, as with stores like Best Buy and Fry's, they'll get their systems working and start enforcing their rules. So, I suggest that y'all be aware that at some point they can come back and say "yo, you cancelled the contract, where is our phone and/or penalty money".

Thanks for the setup instructions; I wasn't able to get it working and it is the modem init string that I had set incorrectly. Now it works fine.

I too cancelled with ATT and returned their MPx200 and got one off of ebay and just went to the local TMobile store and got a service plan. Simple and much better service.
