Perhaps I'm just being dense, but I can't get the keyboard to work. I attach it to the bottom of the Ipaq and make sure it is enabled. Are there any tricks? Am I missing something?

Have you reset your iPAQ (they seem to love resets ). I have encountered this problem maybe twice since I have owned it and a soft reset always corrected the problem. If that doesn't do it for you then you should use iPAQ Backup (which is really Sprite) and then Master Reset and restore.
