No, I have learned my lesson on updating to soon after a new release. Yes, the phone sucks the juice but will last for 7 hours resting on a full charge. Besides, I am waiting for a jailbreak.
I took the plunge and did the iPhone 4S OTA update. It seems to work fine. My phone actually lasted all night without discharging. It appears the update helps battery life - at least for my 4S. Good Luck
