Just to be sure: The Qtek 8500 and the Imate smartflip are the same devices??

But...I can buy a new Qtek 8500 for € 355,= and the Imate smartflip for € 449,= but for sale at www.smartphonestunts.nl. Why the price difference??

The main difference is the ROM installed on the device. Hardware wise they are the exact same phone. i-mate has a better ROM and typically has better support of their phones. I personally would get the Qtek and flash the i-mate ROM on it.

Thanks. In combination with a 2 yr contract with my current service-provider I should be able the get the Qtek for free, which wasn't the case with the I-mate version.

Can you tell me the main difference between the two ROM versions?

The ROM on the Qtek has a missed call problem, where after a certain period of time, it would "fall asleep" and not receive calls. That's the main difference, so if you get the Qtek 8500, you can flash it with the iMate one...There is a Cingular 3125 ROM out there, but due to hardware reasons (128MB ROM), I believe you cannot use it on the Qtek or iMate...Hope that helps.
