QUOTE (smeg36 @ Aug 31 2006, 01:53 PM) *
Did you download the ROM file as well as the update software? You need to have this file in addition to the update software.

That was the problem. The instructions on the pdf document are backwards. Once the rom file is loaded prior to the Update software it works great. Thanks.

Is anyone having trouble with the Update Software? The application finds my phone but says it cannot find an Internet connection. I have turned off all firewalls and confirmed the Internet connection is active. Any ideas?

I use the Nokia 1100 holster and it works great. The only downside is the screen and keys point outward whick requires you to lock the keys.

I agree. The 5600 is great. I have a MPx200 wall charger and cigarete charger and niether one works on the 5600. Not sure if it has anything to do with the amp rating but they are not compatible.

I returned my to BB due to earpiece volume and outgoing volume. Many people said they could not hear me well. I did some tests calling into a voicemail and the other phones (MPx200 and Nokia 660) had much better voice quality and volume. Plus if the MPx220 reception was at one bar the receiving party only heard garbled voice. I picked up the SMT5600 and the voice quality on both sides a superior to the 220.

I just returned my MPX220 to Best buy. For the money the value just wasn't there. I did some tests on the outbound volume and it was horrible compared to other phones. Many of my clients claimed they just couldn't hear me. I picked up a SMT5600 and I have to admit its pretty darn good. The only down side is it's not a flip and accessories are very limited. I will give Mot one more shot when the MPx comes out but so far their radio quality has been less than stellar.

I saw a few posts regarding BT Activesync and I wanted to share how I got this to work well. Turns out that the problem was on the PC side especially if you are using XP SP2. SP2 has its own BT drivers which in turn have problems with most external BT devices. So if you have recently upgraded to SP2 there is a good chance you have to reload the 3rd pary BT Radio Driver. You have to go into device manager and update the driver. However, be sure you choose the manual operation to choose the driver instead of automatic. You will likely see 2 drivers listed so choose the 3rd pary version. After that everything worked like a champ.

Please let me know if you need more detailed instructions.

Did anyone try using the Outdoor Profile? I tried it does seem to help the earpiece volume. It also increase all fo the ring tones.

Bluetooth - I am using an IOGEAR BT USB. If you are using SP2 then you will need to override the XP SP2 radio driver. Go to Devide Manager and right click BT Radio to select properties. Update driver and use manual selection of driver. Select IOGear driver and everything should start working.

Here is the link I used to get it working. http://www.ipaqhq.com/forums/archive/index...hp/t-10066.html

Sounds great. Let us know how it goes. In my office I am at zero to one bar and sometimes no service. 850 works great but the MPX200 obviously doesn't support that. If your idea doesn't work then I will have to wait for the 220 and spend more than I want to.

I gave it a shot and unfortunately I could not see any improvement. I followed the instructions very closely. I assume the measurement of 1.44" is from the point where the wire leaves the existing surface.

I also confirmed that the antenna is the metal patch on the back panel with the gold fingers. The other connector someone was referring to is probably a tuning device (I work with a bunch of hardware engineers).

If anyone else has any luck let me know.

On my phone (2003) charge level never quite reads 100% if you look at the gauge under Power Management. Has anyone seen this?

I have an ATT branded MPx200 with 2003 loaded and running. Only used for a week. Works great except I need 850 in my area as well. I also have the holster, car charger, and handfree. Instead of shipping I can send it with one of my Toronot employees next time the come to my office. Email is mcortina@comcast.net

My main interest is increasing the radio reception performance and not worried about battery life. Which ROM config is the best? I have most of the ROMs available just not sure which one to use.

If recption is better then yes. MPx200 just not very good in office buildings.

BTW - I was a Treo 600 user until I went through 4 of them. While the phone feels durable it is quite fragile in my opinion. Not sure if I would go for the 650 at this point.

Now that I have upgraded to 2003 I was wondering if there is a Radio release 1.10? I find the reception from 2002 to 2003 to have minimal radio improvement. I did install the GSM fix which did help GPRS disconnects but thats abou it.
