I have to say I am sorry for all the bad things I have said about the MPx220 over the past year. Now after using one for a week, I really like it. It seems like a pretty stable and powerful phone (accept for the horrendous battery life which I think I induced myself). I am going to be getting one of my own on Tuesday and I think it will be my main device for at least a while.

I agree, it has been over bashed. Granted, we both started using it after the 1.43 and Asian ROMs were released. I imagine it was much worse before these came out. I am a little suprised that you are going to use it over the SMT5600 though. Which ROM do you have installed on yours? I was using Cingular 1.43, but recently upgraded it to the Asian 3.45. I'm still not sure which I think works better though.

I am a flip phone guy at heart. I am also struggling with my 5600 and WM5.0 so it is not as reliable as I would like it to be. I am on the 1.43 ROM.

I would go for 3.45 if you like better BT intergration and WMP10. Not only that but it has a setting under Start, Settings, Bluetooth called COM ports that let you set the incomming and outgoing COM ports for BT GPS devices or any other BT device that uses COM Ports. The font is easily changed if you don't like the skinny font, i use Segone.ttf. I have been using 3.45 ever since it was enounced and have found it far more stable then any other ROM that I have used (I about used them all lol)

How do you know if your getting the brand new version cingular re-release version, other then the old models? Bet you new ones are awesome, but anyone can sell you a cingular mpx220, then you just unlock it. Has to be the NEW ones that came out again in October.

I don't think it matters what hardware version you have, old or new, as long as you have the new ROM, does it? I have no basis for this, so it could be entirely wrong, but I don't think any hardware changes were made while the MPx220 disappeared from Cingular's line. I think if you have the 1.43 ROM, or any of the Asian's, you will be good.
