Mobile Gadget News :: Making Your Mobile Life Simpler _ Cingular 3125/Star Trek _ Function Buttons Don't Work / Can't Restore Factory Default

Posted by: MidnightBurn Apr 22 2008, 01:56 AM

I apologize if this has already been posted somewhere else, but I need help!!!

My function buttons at the top of the keypad (Just under the screen) stopped working today. So, now I tried to restore factory default settings using the "Hold both function buttons down and press the red on/off button" method. However, when I get to the black screen that says "Press 0 to restore factory defaut... Pressing- 0 does nothing. Probably because the function keys don't work.

Please help!!!

Thanks in advance!!!

Kevin

Somone else may have a better idea but reflashing to the latest ROM may help: http://www.htcamerica.net/support/3125/software-downloads.html

I have two 3125's one on T-Moile and the other on AT&T and have not experienced this issue. Let us know what you do.

I forgot to mention one thing. In my hasty attempt to see if the function buttons were somehow locked, I went in and pressed the "lock buttons" option, which made the problem even worse, because now I can't use my phone at all. I can't call or access anything.

HelllllllllllPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!

The flash may be the only way.

Well, I walked through the flash process and it says it completed successfully. But the situation is much much worse. The buttons still don't work. And now, my keypad is scrambled. 0 shows as a 5 and I can't dial out if there is a 0 in the number.

What do I do now? If the software is completely reloaded and the buttons don't work, does that indicate a physical problem with the buttons rather than a software problem?

I am going to try to get the phone replaced. Not sure if I can, but it is only 8 months old.

Yes with a fresh flash the phone should be back to normal barring a physical problem. They should warranty for a year.
