sad.gif I successfully upgreaded to 2003 ROM on my MPX200 but now when I try to launch the SIM Manager it shows me this error.
"fail to initialize SIM, possible Radio Off or SIM failure".
I tried taking the battery out for a while for few times and taking the SIM out and it still does not work. Any idea what to do to get this fix. ?

I am an ATT customer and so I guess that SIM manager would not work with 2003 on my phone. I have to use this Jayo application. huh, that sucks ..

Have you hard reset? If you are using an AT&T SIM then you should have no problems using the SIM manager. I assumed that you were using a non-AT&T SIM card.

I saw the same SIM Manager error after flashing to 2003 and it even asked me for the Unblocking Code!!! However, after taking the battery out and hard reset the phone, everything was ok. Got me worried there for a while.

I purchased an unlocked phone from EBay and I got an AT&T SIM Card. After upgrading to WM2003 I'm getting this error message "Fail to initialize SIM, possible Radio Off or SIM failure" when I click on SIM Manager option. I never had this problem with WM2002. SIM used to display my cell phone number.
Any help to resolve this issue will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hey gryph0n,

Total mpx200 noobie here. Great site!
I just got an unlocked mpx200 on eBay and had this same error. The phone seems to work fine, but the SIM manager does not work and sometimes I get a SIM error on startup. Does this cause any long term problem?

I am now getting not only the "SIM failure Unknown SIM Status (Error 0)" error, but part of the time I get another error after clicking "Done" on the SIM failure screen:

This phone only accepts SIMs approved by your company, and has been blocked. Contact your technical services department for the unblock code

Unblock Code:

New Pin:

Confirm New Pin:

Any ideas or solutions? I've had the phone for about 3 days, and I didn't see this error until yesterday afternoon.

Thanks in advance

Guys, this is a relatively stupid problem coded in by the geniuses at ATT. First, you have to check and see what color your SIM is. I did the upgrade (German SP2003 rom w/Cartman image) and that same thing happened to me (I couldnt get my contacts back but luckily dad has a slick Ericsson T616--hooray for IR!) If you are like me and have ATT's new white SIM, then you will get this error no matter what you do to your phone. However there seems to be a fix (and make sure you are have ur checkbooks ready)---the older blue ATT sim cards. If you can get access to one, try conning Cust Care or the people at the ATT store to activate one of these cards and your SIM errors should disappear. Mind you, these cards are realtively hard to find and seem to run for about $25 us on Ebay. Also, if you are already using a blue ATT SIM, then this will do nothing to help you, so try applying the GSM fix or possibly hard resetting the phone. Hope this helps someone out, and keep on supporting these forums---they are lifesavers, especiallly for newbies like me.

BTW: Can someone give me a lead on the battery life issues with the German rom???

I get this too, but it's not the end of the world. In case anyone lands here from Google, like I did, just type in 8 zero's for the unblock code, then 4 zero's for the new & new-again fields. You'll jump past the message with no problems.

Cornelius,

Thanks for the good info. Anyone trying this please verify and we can add to the FAQ perhaps.
