Posted by: xusso Feb 14 2006, 04:19 PM

Hi guys,
just upgraded my MPX200 to the WM5 OS. Is there any MMS client that you guys can point out that really works? If so, where can I find it?
Thanks in advance!

Posted by: ardec1 Feb 14 2006, 04:24 PM

Try ArcSoft MMS 2003.

Just do a search for it on Google.

I've tried, but it didn't work for some reason...
any other solution?

There is also a small free utility program called SmartAttach that I have found works really well for sending audio and video files attached to emails.

It is made by the same people who make PocketTV.

I've discovered THIS THREAD on another forum, and I've tested... It's working!!

Check it out for yourselves, since I don't speak Czech. But it's quite easy.
Download and install ArcSoftMMSClientENGv2.CAB, configure a GPRS connection as Secure Wap Network with the settings of your network on the mobile (Start>Settings>Connections>GPRS).

Then rum MMS composer go to Settings and Message Center and make sure you enter the right settings for your network. Save all, then make a soft reset...

And, there you have it!

Jus copy the .cab file into your MPx200 & run it from the phone itself within your file browser (eg. Motorola File Manager, Total Commander). It will install & you'll see the MMS app in the Menu list.
You'll have to configure the settings to work.
Mine works with MMS Settings.
I have already installed the correct GPRS settings from my service provider so & only need to modify (add/edit) one of the message center to reflect the correct settings.
Can call the toll-free # of your SP to get the settings.
An alternative link to the cab with MMS Home screen plugin is in youtr PM.
PS: Thanks again my friend(U know who you are) for doing the footwork of finding the file & making it available. biggrin.gif

Sorry, but i'm new here. I downloaded the .CAB file as instructed, tried to install it on my phone but it says something like the software does not have higher access permission to be installed on the phone. Anybody might be able to help me out here? Thanks!

I had the same problem, you have to unlock it in order to install the cab.

search forum for registry unlock/hack -- and then u'll be able to install those applications

Posted by: palestofwhite Aug 17 2006, 05:29 AM

Thank you tanerco, i found a way for registry unlock and i've finally installed the MMS software. I could deal with the settings on the MMS software itself but could not add an MMS settings at the GPRS phone setting. I went from start> more > settings > connections> GPRS> Add, but under the Connects to panel, i could not find an MMS network. The only available are, secure WAP network, WAP network, Work and The internet. My service provider specifically asked me to select an "MMS service" under that "connect to" section of the GPRS settings. Anyone knows a work around for this?

Posted by: runningtiger Aug 17 2006, 08:58 AM

I've installed Abatis' Cingular settings cab file from this site and it uses "Secure WAP Network" to "connect to" in the MMS settings.

I am having a real hard time getting mms to work on my mpx. If anyone knows the the exact settings for T-Mobile (germany) i'd gladly take them! I tried settings from the T-Mobile site, i used a .cab that installed the settings, but nothing works.

The best i get is as follows: the mms in the outbox gets a little green arrow that stays for a while, then it turns into a red "x". With all other setups i get an error message (network settings wrong, blabla).
Does anyone know what that arrow means?

EDIT: A friend send me a MMS and i got two messages. I clicked download, and after some time a message appears: "problem with srvtrust.exe". wtf is wrong with my phone?! sad.gif

Posted by: palestofwhite Aug 17 2006, 02:45 PM

i can actually see the MMS in my Inbox but when i click to load... it fails. Anyway i tried with all, Internet, Secured WAP and WAP. They won't work.

FYI, I'm not using the default Secured WAP or WAP settings...they are actually empty on mine.
My service provider (SP) included a cab file for me to install all the settings onto the MPx200 that originally came with the MMC card.
Now, I'm using MMS Connection (setting provided by my SP) & my message center setting is provided by my SP helpdesk.
For the record, mine is StarHub from Singapore & the settings are as follows:

Name: GEE MMS (does not matter what you call it)
Message Center website: http://mms.starhubgee.com.sg:8002
WAP gateway: 10.12.1.80

Hope these information sets you in the right direction.
For what it's worth, your SP helpdesk should be able to walk you through the settings to get it working.

Also flo, the green arrow means the app is processing the message you sent.
The red corss is indicative of an error...in your case, it's a network setting error.
Regards! smile.gif

I'm using Singtel (SP) and i do have the instructions to set my MMS. There is an option when you set the GPRS. They have the Secured WAP, WAP, the Internet and also MMS. I went from start> more > settings > connections> GPRS> Add, but under the Connects to panel, i could not find the MMS option. I lost the CD that came with the phone which had an MMS application that comes along with it. After installing JMMS, the MMS option appeared when i set the GPRS. That being said... even if i have the CD, the JMMS might not work with WM5 as i only tried it on WM2002.

Try these links for SingTel settings:
http://www.ppcsg.com/index.php?showtopic=5...st&p=511615
&
http://www.trendsmobile.com/main/showsection.asp?SectionID=102&ParentID=97
Hope it helps.
BTW, what settings are there under your GPRS menu before you add?
jMMS is definitely not compatible with WM5 cos it've tried it already.
Only the version that's posted in this thread works.
For my MPx200-WM5, under Connections>Menu>Advanced, my Secure WAP Connection is set to Automatic, meaning it'll choose from GEE MMS or GEE WAP (GPRS) whichever is suitable for the content & connection type.
You can contact SingTel helpdesk to get the MMS settings from them & you manually type it in.
In the MMS app, under Settings (6), set the "Select network:" to MMS Connection (or whatever it is called by SingTel or yourself) & configure the SingTel MMS message center (Menu>Message center) according to the setting given to you by the helpdesk.
Make sure you select the SingTel message Center before exiting.
Try sending a MMS to a friend/relative who's able to verify with you whether they received it.
Of course, you can determine if your MMs sending is successful by looking at the status symbols of the MMS message that you have sent out in the Outbox or Sent box.

Very little searching is required to find http://www.mobilegadgetnews.com/index.php?showtopic=10836. In fact it is currently the post just below this one in the MPx200 forum.

below are the instructions i needed for me to get my MMS to work from configuring connections > GPRS.

Instructions:

1. Press Programs > More > Settings > Data Connections > Menu > Edit Connection
2. Select GPRS Connections
3. Press Menu > Add
4. Enter Description IDEAS MMS
5. Enter Connects to MMS Connection
6. Enter Access Point e-ideas
7. Enter User name 65<Your Mobile Phone no.> eg. 6591234567
8. Enter Password <Your IDEAS account password>
9. Enter IP Address 165.21.42.84
Press Done and Home button to go back to main menu.
10. Press Programs > More > Accessories
11. Select MMS Setup > Profile
12. Press the right soft key (Profile) and Edit
13. Enter Profile Name <Your preferred name> eg. IDEAS MMS
14. Enter MMSC http://mms.singtel.com.sg:10021/mmsc
15. Enter Data Connections <Your MMS Connection> eg. IDEAS MMS
16. Enter Gateway WAP 2.0 Gateway
17. Enter IP Address 165.21.42.84
18. Enter Port 9201
19. Press Done and Home button to go back to main menu.

The problem for me:

I could not get step 5. done.
There are options to select connects to Secured WAP Network, WAP Network, Work, The Internet, but not MMS connection. The MMS connection selection was available on WM2002 but is missing for my WM5.

I'll try to dig out my MMC card bundled with the MPx200 to see if I can find the SG-Singtel.cab file for you.
This should solve your problems.
Meanwhile, if you can get your hand on a SG-XXX.cab file for other Service Provider, you can unpack the file & look for a .xml file.
Inside, you'll notice the registry settings for creating the MMS Setting entry in your profile.
Cheers!

New findings!

I need not add any GPRS connections. By selecting "advanced' in the 'connections' tab, i have all the settings set to automatic.

All i have to do is set the arcsoft MMS settings to connect to 'The Internet'.

It works fine now but maybe you should send me the Singtel files that came with your phone as well for me to try it out too.

However, is there any way i can use Arcsoft and have MMS shown on my homescreen? Like i have the SMS bar that shows the amount of SMS i have recieved at the homescreen. There used to be the MMS status bar when it was back in WM2002.

Thanks alot!

No. You should have read the Board Guidelines in order to join the forum. They strictly prohibit sharing links or files, as well as asking for, any illegal software. The WM5 ROM was never released by Motorola or Microsoft, and as such isn't legal to distribute. We will provide any technical assistance we can, but not anything illegal. Please keep future posts to the appropriate thread. This topic isn't MMS related..

You should be downloading the MMS Composer cab file included in the link in this thread.
That version includes the MMS counter plugin for the home screen.
But if you have used a different home screen, then the counter may not be readily available until you select the default home screen with MMS option in the settings.
If you want the MMS counter in the custom home screen you installed, then you 'll have to open up the xml file that points to the home screen(browse to '\Application Data\Home\' in MS ActiveSync Explorer to look for the file) & include the entry for the MMS...it's only a few lines.
Copy the file to your PC & use notepad to edit the file then copy back.
That is what I did to achieve the home screen that you see in the post in this thread.
BTW, if you are still looking for a file explorer, Total Commande for smartphone is freeware & works on WM5 for MPx200.
You can download it here:
http://www.ghisler.com/smartphone.htm

I have my homescreen set to MSN pocket. I tried Windows Default and MSN Default but MMS did not show as well. I only installed the arcsoft cab provided from the link above. Wonder if it provides the plugins. Anyway thanks for the link for total commander... from what i see it's better than the smart explorer i'm using now... mmmmm let me try it! Thanks!
