I live in India and my provider here uses only 900MHz.
Had bought my ATT branded MPx200 from US but was not able to use it here for quite sometime doe to the band limitation.
Later I unlocked the 900MHz band through the firmware flash and I use the phone without any problem now.
The signal strength is not very good inside my house but I suppose this phone is nototrious for that already.

Sounds to me like your whole issue is space. You might try de-installing some applications to make more room on the phone first. Then make sure your card has plenty of space for Sprite and try again. You might throw in a power on/off for good measure.

Also, try browsing to the Apps -> Install directory on the phone memory.
This is the temporary directory where the cab (installable) is stored.
Sometimes, it does not get deleted and just takes up the available memory.

Check the sync settings of ActiveSync.
Make sure you have selected Contacts to be synchronised.

You can also try creating a new SIM contact.
This has solved similar problem for others.

Yes it works.

I am running WM2005 on my MPX200 and installed the mentioned IBM MIDP 2.0. You don't have to use JavaMan. And installing *.jar programs is tricky. You have to let the phone download the files directly from the internet (or from a personal web server).

I tried a couple of free downloads from www.getjar.com and they work. Its slow, but it works. So for action games I wouldn't recommend it.

Some related q's:

1. Where do i install this IBM MIDP. the download from IBM installs itself on the PC.
2. Is this enough? do i need to install anything on the mobile also?
3. or just installing the MIDP and PWS on the PC is enough?

For those still looking to run al kinds of java programs (samsung/nokia java-games!!). I found JBlend which you can install on the MPX200 and then run any java program (include both *.jad and *.jar files). When combined with the overclock utility you get 30+ fps!!

And where do you d/l JBlend from?
I googled and didn't find any d/l references.

I had experiance with unsuccesful WM 5.0 upgrade, and I can tell you for sure that phone won't charge if it isn't flashed properly. It charged again after I reflashed WM2003.

Fully charge your battery on other phone and reflash the phone, if you haven't experianced fuse mailfunction.

But I don't think you can do much once you can't even go to flash mode...
If the PC does not detect the phone, then mostly you have a fancy paperweight!!!

I suppose all your queries would have been already asked and answered on this forum.
I've found this forum to be the most helpful for all my MPx200 related queries.
You just need to spend some time surfing through this forum.
You could also use the Search function for specific topics.

I am using TCPMP to view video's
'But i think i'll copy the files with a Card reader. I wasn't sure if could just pull out the SD card without killing my installation.

Card reader is the better choice since copying through ActiveSync gives very slow data xfer rates!
A 5MB mp3 will take around 5 mins through ActiveSync whereas you can xfer it in seconds through a Card Reader.

As for pulling out the card when the phone is on, I suppose you can't do so if you have WM5 installed on the MPx200 since a part of the OS is installed on the card.
The phone would just go for a hard reboot.

There is some question about the 900Mhz. band on an AT&T branded MPx200.
I read somewhere that the phone did not have the 900Mhz. capability in the actual hardware and that it was done that way by request of AT&T

OK... let me clarify this... The ATT MPx200 (even the ones with 1.8/1.9 on the label below the battery) has the 900MHz in hardware but is disabled at firmware.
There was a thread sometime back in this forum on how to unlock the 900MHz...
It actually involved the backing up of the initial 512 bytes of your phone (which also contains the IMEI info),
getting the IMEI info from the specific location in these 512 bytes, and then patching it into the 512 bytes extracted from another phone whose 900MHz was unlocked...
Now upgrading your phone (Using the MOTO Upgrade wizard) with this modified 512 bytes would retain your IMEI and unlock the 900MHz...

The above process required some GUI tool which was written in Chinese or some other language and you would not have much clue what each button is for!
Since some people did it wrongly, they lost their original IMEI and then it became a legal issue...
And the thread was gone from this forum...

I had bought an ATT MPx200 from US and it did not work in India since it could not connect to the 900MHz used by my provider here...
I did the above process and unlocked my phone for 900MHz...and could connect to my provider...
I also verified that I had my IMEI intact.
Since I did not have any further use of the GUI, I did not care to save it for future use (This means I do not have the GUI tool and do not contact me for the same smile.gif )

Hi,

i have downloaded the ROM Update. My phone is the same and Its called O2 Xphone IIm here. But havent flashed since I have a question to ask...

IF the flashing fails or something doesnt work.... how do i get the original 2003 SE back on the phone?

if this can be restored, I can go ahead with the flashing smile.gif

Can someone also confirm if this ROM Update will work with O2 Xphone IIm(it is the same family as mpx220 or mpx200)
*

O2 Xphone II and MPx200 are not the same...
I would not dare to flash an O2 Xphone with MPx200 ROM

I've googled around but found no workaround. The regedit (tried resco and the stg one) won't change the values.

Has anyone managed to decertify mpx200 under WM5?

Same here,
It did not allow me to change the values with PHM Regedit

Successfully installed WM5 on my MPx200!!!
Works great!! It seems to be a little quicker than WM2003, that is after it boots up...

Could not locate File Manager, Resource Manager, Sim Manager etc.
These were very useful tools in WM2003.

Can we install 3rdparty tools intended for WM2003... like IA File Manger, XBAR etc?
Also, do we have an option to change the external display style like we had in WM2003?

I also tried this fix...

Since I could not get hold of a replacement fuse, thought I would just bidge the connection.
Wasn't very easy since the solder was not holding to the contacts (maybe the soldering lead was not good enough) and took me a while to manage the bridging...
Boy, the fuse is damn small... and I am sure I touched some of the nearby components with the soldering iron...

But nonetheless, I put my phone for charging and it was charging!!!
I fully charged the phone... used it for the whole day without any problems...
set the alarm for the morning while I went to sleep...

morning I woke up to the faint noise from the phone which sounded like the noise of continuos firing of a small relay! and this started at exactly the time I had set the alarm to.

I checked the phone and RATS!!! the display would not come up.
I removed the battery and put it back... and the phone does not turn on again...
I haven't looked at tha state of the fuse bridge but I guess my phone is dead for good...

there is no MMS on 2003. and u don't have third party apps for that effect for 2003,
though i remember seeing some post about ArcSoft MMS being able to support MMS on 2003.

Tomas,
here u go:

1. U can save the message in ur Drafts folder if u want to postpone the sending.

while composing, select menu > postpone message.

This saves the message in drafts folder.

inbox > menu > accounts/folders > folders (right soft key) displays all the folders.
select drafts to complete and send the message later

2. U can save a copy of the sent SMS in ur Sent Items folder.

inbox > menu> options > sending : select "save copies of sent items"

3. U can view the time the message was sent/received.

If you just select a message from inbox, the topmost line displayed is "From".
But this is not the actual topmost line!! scroll up and u'll see the sent/received time.
