_ Home Page News _ HTC Star Trek Coming to Cingular?

Posted by: MobileGadgetNews

SmartphoneThoughts.com has come up with information that the HTC Star Trek is coming to the USA - soon. Smartphonethoughts points out that the HTC Star Trek has cleared the FCC review, but photos and the user manual are being held as confidential. This generally means a carrier is involved and they want to keep everything under raps until the launch. Speculation is the carrier will be Cingular. The first official USA Windows Mobile 5.0 flipper may be launched by the end of August.

Update: Our own source is saying September for the Cingular Star Trek launch.

http://www.smart-mobile-gadgets.com/index.php (no affiliation with MGN) is selling the Qtek 8500 (aka HTC Star Trek) for $399. That is the lowest price I have seen in the US market. It will be interesting to see what price point Cingular sets for their Star Trek.

The http://www.imatephonestore.com/product.asp?itemMDL=IMATE_SMARTFLIP wants $699 for the i-mate Smartflip. That seems a little rich for just a WM5 Smartphone.
