I have tried my various adapters - I have to use the Voq stereo adapters.

Hi, the 2.5 plug isn't the Nokia type, but much shorter !
It's a standard HiFi version, not used in any gsm phone,
i have a cheap FM radio headphone, that came with a extension cable which is used for using this gadget as normal headphone, (one end stereo 2.5 plug, the other end stereo 3.5 plug) there's also a webstore; Conrad,
that sells the 2.5 stereo plug seperately

i dunno if the sound file is being overwritten or not. when i start up the phone, instead of the Voq Starup Sound.wav in /storage/application data/sounds, it plays a ding sound.
but i'll try your suggestion and find a registry editor and change the link to point at the .wav file

.wav files are only accepted when they have the aprox. 20kHz sample rate,
just checkout the specs of the ringtones allready on the phone : Storage/Application Data/Sounds/
When you store .wav files of this format in the root of the SD card you can also select them as a sound for any function of your phone you don't have to put them in the above mentioned map, btw File View of DAT Enterprises www.datgroup.com is a free file-explorer, dat is handy to use on the VOQ.
