I'm actually having the same problem. I thought at first that it was my hearing declining with age but I noticed that media player is louder than the speakerphone. It used to be quite loud a few months ago. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

The website host guy who upgraded his phone said one of the improvements was the volume was increased. I would guess its then a software limitation.

QUOTE (bu11_mkt @ Apr 19 2004, 06:38 PM) when i use the speakerphone and then go back to the earpiece the volume is low even when the earpiece volume is at max. does anyone else have this problem? Same here, just got my mpx200, and the speaker/earpiece volume is very very very low comparing to my v600. I have to press the earpiece to my ear untill its practilly inside it just to hear the caller. and the speaker plays mp3 loud, but when talking to a caller its almos same volume as the earpiece.. Anyone knows ifits possible to edit the registry and change the value for the speaker/earpiece volume? I did it on v600... but mpx is a diff story

Has there ever been resolution on this?
I just ordered two MPx200's ( one for wife and myself ), and the speakerphone level is unacceptably low.
These are the "AT&T" branded models via eBay.
Thanks.

Intresting, no problems here. It occured to me once, but after rebooting the phone everything seemed in order.

I don't know if it makes a difference, but we're running the phones "stock"; i.e., with Windows 2002.

All worst 'bout stock 2002. First after I've bought the phone and seen wm2002 i thought, OMG, what did I do! Luckily I've already downloaded wm2003 which made amazing difference. Consider upgrading both phones.

I have WM2003 and it doesn't do anything for the speakerphone. The speakerphone is joke. I have to hold it so close to my ear that I might as well just use the handset. On my older Nokia, it was so loud, I can leave in the car somewhere or on my computer table and I can hear it just fine and other person can hear me clearly as well.
So are you guys saying that it's just isolated to the AT&T phones??? because I bought an unlocked MPX200 originally AT&T...

No, it isn't just the AT&T phones. All MPx200s should have the same speaker in them, and thus achieve the same speakerphone levels. I never really used the speakerphone, but when I did I didn't notice any problems. Maybe I just wasn't picky with speakerphone levels.

Cant be that. I basicly got the mpx200 as a smartphone, and mp3player. With this speakerphone i can only hear something when its completely quiet (At night in bed when everyone is sleeping; that quiet!). I just cant use my phone as an mp3player. @Smeg: You either got unnaturally great ears (which is impossible) or our phones are different

What, you sayin my ears aint great? You want to step outside? I actually have horrible hearing, I just rarely used the speakerphone. Have you tried headphones for listening to MP3s? No mobile device I've ever had was very good at playing music over the built-in speaker.

My MPx200 and 220's speaker phones are sooooooooo loud that I have to turn it down a notch or two otherwise it's really pushing the little speakers abilities and starts to crackle. Both are running WM2003.

Im running 2002 and i wish the volume was loud. However, the highest possible stance (still very low volume) does do that cracking thingy.
@Smeg: I guess the speakerphones in our mpx200s are different.

the speaker in mpx200 worked ok. Nothing great. I was able to hear it but just hard to uderstand what the people were saying. Would move the vol down a notch then I could understand but then it was too low. Mine had 2002 then upgrade to 2003. No difference in speakerphone but mp3's played a lot better on speaker.

Took long time to search, here it is. When you upgrade to WM5, MS voice command sound during announcing a call will be very low ( Imate Jaz Jar).
In order to increase the volume , navigate to HKCU\Control Pannel\SoundCategories\VoiceCommand1 Then change the value of AttenuationCategory from 4 to 1
Sound of the voice command will be even higher than the ringing tone. You can also change the value of InitVol to 40. if not make VoiceCommand1 key & under Atte....
i got the solution for my mpx200 without speakerphone
also insert InitVol key in VoiceCommand1 set to 40 best luck

OK..I just upgrade to WM5 yesterday and found the sound is too low too. Thank lord I found it.
Go to Settings/ Profiles/
Edit a Profiles, adjust the 'Ring Volume'. Set to LOUD.
Hope it works for you.
