QUOTE (FrayAdjacent @ Mar 27 2005, 06:20 PM) Haha... it figures. Moto may screw the pooch on this one. Maybe they'll update it or come out with something on the same form factor. Oh well. A guy at work found a way that we can get the RAZR for less than $200, so I may just switch to one of those. I've seen a couple hands-on, and they are fine phones. a RAZR doesn't have Windows on it, does it? In that case it is a completly different phone for a different audience. It does look sharp though, but won't let view, edit files with all types of different programs like Windows based phones does. Moto would be extremly foulish not to use this form factor for a new phone, the form factor is geniusly! It is the internal specs that are outdated now; it probably won't even run WM2005 due to the memory shortage. The low hardware specs were, according to Motorla, due to the fact that the phone would otherwise use to much current. New Li-Polymer batteries are on the market now that deliver 1.5 times the power of conventional Lion batteries in the same size but with reduced weight. There are 1200mha batteries available now for the MPx200 battery compartment size. So a 2000mha version should be possible for the bigger MPx form factor. If Moto could build modertly power-consuming 300mhz/400mhz xscale with 64mb/128mb internal memory using this battery into the MPx form factor they will be king of the hill again. True PDA performance in a phone with a comlete keyboard as well. A true PDA/Laptop replacement. |

The phone has been out for months in Europe and I guess in Asia. The fact that this phone still is not available in the main market for a device like this (here in Europe business users prefere outdated simple models and younger people more gadget phones like the Nokias) just proves again that Motorola completly f**ked it up with this phone. The phone has unsufficient processing power, battery life and way unsufficient free user memory. Motorola outsourced the development of this model to an external company, with which they have a business conflict now and stoped doing business with it at all. It starts to look more like it that Motorola maybe won't release the current MPX version at all in the US market and wait for the MPX successor or a revision of the current MPX that has more internal memory. |

QUOTE (GrYph0n @ Feb 25 2005, 08:06 PM) That is a complete and total matrix (pyramid) scam. It is sad to see people dump their money into these things. At any rate they have no place being posted in the forums as it doesn't really help anyone in a productive manner. In Europe I already seen price cuts to the 700 euro introduction price (this is inclusive 19% VAT). Have patience, the price will come down. I don't see business users buying this device; to modern form them; business users are conservative use proven-technology for mobile phoning like the nokia 6000 series. The market for this device really are the enthusiast users, so if we all wait buying the price will fall down! |

Did it! Thanks guys.
To all others: the side wall has a pin sticking under the clip. So thats why you have to bend the side wall away from the clip to a point it almost feels like braking. A few dental sticks between the opening exteriour helped me to get the exterior up as sson as the pin was released from the clip. I will try to post a new picture again explaining this better!
Puh.. felt like a journey getting the exterior from the MPx200. First ordered a T4 through ebay. Then a T6, when the 4 did not fit, then a T5 and then then the clip hurdle. Well hope getting a new fuse on it will be easier but it does look awfully small! |

QUOTE (amsrwc @ Feb 22 2005, 07:12 AM) Put your screwdriver in the top position, and try to move the clip towards B&C at once. The clip itself will not move (at least mine didn't), but in fact, the plastic case then slips around the clip as it is pushed away from the center of the phone. Also, so you know, I was having such difficulty originally because the screwdriver I was using was TOO small. I chose another slightly larger and that helped immensely. I have tried it but the exterior wall starts twisting and looks like to be on the edge of breaking. If only feels like the hard plastic exterior is going break, putting more force on the screwdriver in to move it to C and B |

QUOTE (awarner @ Feb 20 2005, 06:36 PM) You move the clips in and down. the case will move slightly so you have to be gentle as you only need to move the clip slightly. Just remember to undo the screws first All 4 screws were removed but there is no movement at all. I think I misinterpretate your instructions. I made a simple schema which could make explaining to me easier. The top view corresponds to your first posted picture, the battery compartment when you open up the phone : Which position should I put the screwdriver(red line)? The top position or the lower position? Seen from the side should the clip be moved to A(more to the outside of the exterior) B to the inside or C downwards? Or sould it be moved sideways; D up or E down? |

QUOTE (awarner @ Feb 9 2005, 09:35 AM) To unclip you have to place the screw driver against the clip and move it in an outward movement to unlatch it. This take a little bit of effort and you must have the right side screwdriver to avoid any damage to the case or circuitboard. Hope this helps. Awarner Thanks for the reply! You are a great help, but could you be more specific exactly how to unclip? I have gotten the screwdriver above the clip when I pulled I could push the clip a little downward, when I pushed with more force it resulted in distortion of the plastic jacket to the amount that it felt like starting to break. No movement what so ever in het jacket of the phone. Do I have to push the clips downward or pull it to the inside of the phone side, so out of the jacket or move the clip sideways or do something else? There is a little space between the clipside standing up and the side-jacket should I put the screwdriver in here? The side of the Jacket feels quite fragile while the clip needs a lot of force to get moving. Did you use a lot of force? |

QUOTE (dazzer_2000 @ Feb 3 2005, 09:01 PM) I have looked at this thread and dont fully understand it. I want to replace the entire housing of my MPx200 since I have dropped it twice, onto concrete, each time landing on part that is not inside the leather case. I love the little phone and do not want to replace it, so want to repair it. Is it going to be easy to transfer the entire inner working from one case to another? Thanks, Darren It look on the pictures that the whole electronic interior comes out of the packadge. How easy it would be to replace the LCD part I don't know. It is in the other side of the flip mechanism. Any one how to unclip the clips on the side? |

Thanks for putting the pictures backup! Could you describe to me in detail how I should use the screwdriver to unclip the clip's; exactly which place do I have to put pressure on? Sticking the screwdriver in het whole and pressuring the metal doesn't make my MPx200 give in anything . |

Hi Awarner, could you put the pictures back online? That would be a great help to me.
I can't get the the two retaining clips in the middle sides of the body uncliped. No matter how much pressure I put on them with a screwdriver they remain where they are. Do I have to put extreme pressure on them? Or do I have to presure and pull the cover at the same time? |

QUOTE (abatis @ Jan 25 2005, 03:02 PM) Did you see BengalBoys review of the final production over at Howards. He ripped the final product. Mark (Bengalboy) says "Trust Me, no one wanted more for the MpX than me......after using the MpX and the RaZr....I immediately bought stock in Motorola, the RaZr has proven to be a "HUGE WINNER" shipping over 3 times more units than Motorola projected and making Motorola the Darling of Stock Market Analysts right now..... Unfortunately,,the MpX will do as much to destroy that new "Bleeding Edge" customer support as the RaZr has in creating it. My advice to those who want this phone,,,,,,get a JAM!!......get a PDA2k.....buy don't buy this device.." See his great pictures and discussion here: BengalBoy Blasts MPXYes that is what you can read at all the other forums early buyers have to say about the MPx300, it has way to little free ram to run decent programs on, only a couple of kb left after pocket pc loads into the 32MB. The 200mhz OMAP processor seems to be to slow as well for multimedia and multitasking. It is a shame that this site (mpx200.org) is hyping the product without actually knowing/having reviewed, testest the actual performance. More reserve should be in place towards uninformed readers who may build up to many expectations about this $780 device. Some Motorola engineers seem already have stated unofficially that the MPx300 successor will be the thing to go for but that the current MPx isn' t all that. |

The sended me a brand new MPX200 back, european version with 900mhz working. Soley baed on the IMI production number that was less then 2 years old. MOTOROLA YOU ARE TOP. Count me in as a customer as the MPX300 comes out! |

Bought a new battery first because I though that was the problem. But the new battery got the MPX200 up but could not make contact through the USB cable anymore as well. Active sync and charging don't work anymore. Can I fix this or should I go to a CellPhone doctor (as it is called here in the Netherlands/Europe) |

Well seems that contrary to the Help file from MS pocket street you can create a My Documents map on your SD card as well and MS pocket streets for smart phones will choose a map out of it as well. |

Why the MPx220? It doesn't offer that much more then the MPx200. If you want an upgrade take the MPx300 aka MPx. Full keyboard, 2 * bigger screen, and WM pocket OS, so you can really run Word and Excel on it, next to the much bigger available software library for pocket pc. |
