There are several third-party software titles available that can connect you to AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber, ICQ, and Google. Agile is free for Smartphones, but it is in Alpha so there are some bugs. IM+ is a decent overall program, but does cost some money up front. Unlike non-Smartphones, however, you need a data plan to connect to any of these solutions. They don't use SMS as other phones do.

I just tried launching AIM Express on my Pocket PC Phone, and it gave me an error because I didn't meet the requirements. I doubt the Smartphone would work with it if the PPC Phone doesn't.
