Posted by: a112

I have problem with my mpx200.I flashed the phone to WM2005,the phone worked perfectly for 2 hours or so,i turned the phone off with battery almost full, put it on my table, and i slept for 10 hours. When i woke up,tried to start the phone, nothing happens, same thing with charging and connecting to the PC via USB.
Can you please help,is that related to battery, fuse,or is it the software and burned phone.

One more thing,i tried to take the battery out for 30 minutes,2 hours,10 hours, nothing happened,

By the way, When I press the left button afn the power on/off button, the screen do flash for less one second, and after that I connect the phone with PC ,and there's nothing happen, adn the UPDATE softwear won'y get it recognized. HELP !!!!!!!!

It looks like your trying two different methods at the same time. If you are trying to flash it with the update wizard, just press and hold the left direction on the d-pad (don't touch the power button) and plug it into the PC while holding the left d-pad. To try a hard reset you press and hold the blue action button in the center of the d-pad while turning on the phone with the power button (not left on the d-pad).

Still nothing happened. And I did see the screen flash when I pressed the left button and power button at the same time, does that mean my phone still can get into the boot mode? I have tried more than 100 times ,and the update wizard just can't find the phone !!! God , I need U!

usually when we plug the phone with PC, and in the update mood, we can hear a sound just like a USB storage being put into. But now when I connect the phone with the PC, nothing I can hear!

Take the battery out and leave it out for a while.
Put the battery back in and plug the phone in to the charger.
It may take a little while before it start charging so be patient.
After it has been charging for a while, start the Moto Upgrade Wizard and follow the instructions on the screen as it relates to preparing the phone for the upgrade.
When you get to the screen where it ask you to hold down the "LEFT" arrow key (to the left of the big blue button), hold that button down and plug the USB cable in to the phone. DON'T touch the power button when you do this and also make sure that the phone is turned OFF before you start.
The upgrade wizard should find the phone and you are in business.

After that, flash the phone and follow the instructions that you can find here on this site.

I have done what you said, but nothing happened. I wonder why there are two different instructions: one says that we should press "power" while press "left",the other says we just need press "left". So, which is correct? And I surely can see the screen flashed when I press the "left" and "power", and with some machine, I can define that the votalge is right OK,showing that the motherboard is OK.

GOD, help me !!!!!!!!!!

You still seem to be confusing the two different directions. One thing you could try is a hard reset. This requires you to press the power button, but NOT the left d-pad at all. Instructions on how to hard reset are found http://www.mobilegadgetnews.com/index.php?showtopic=11588. This required you to press the big blue button in the MIDDLE of the d-pad, NOT the left direction.

The second thing, and most likely to revive your phone, is reflashing the ROM. In order to do this you should at no point touch the power button. Press and hold the left d-pad while plugging the phone into your PC. Don't touch the power button while doing this. There is no combination of pressing left and power during either of these methods.

Sounds like you have either the wrong version of the Moto Upgrade Wizard or the wrong driver for the phone.

Does the phone show up as a modem when you go to "System" and then "Hardware"?

Posted by: Neo

NO,I have checked there, and I can see nothing. Normally there should be a sound for the connection, if it works all right. But , no, Nothing!

It sounds like you have either the wrong version of the Moto Upgrade Wizard and/or the wrong driver for the phone.

Drop me an email and I will upload the right version that I use to upgrade to WM5 with, including the right WM5 ROM, to a place where you can download it from.

Sometimes it vibrates when I press the left button and power button.

Posted by: ardec1

I am not sure I understand why you press the left button and the power button.

That button combination is not used for anything that I know of.

Posted by: Neo

^=^

Why I did that is because I have read the instructions for updating the mpx200 in Chinese,it says I should Press the combination. And I did get some success in some mpx200 s. I have done that for about 3 pieces of mpx200. And I wonder is there any sounds like when we plug some usb stuff in the PC. Because when I did the combination, I could hear that.

Posted by: ardec1

I have no idea why the instructions would say to use that button combination.

You start the Moto Upgrade Wizard and at about the second or third step you hold down the left button ONLY and keep holding it down while you plug the USB cable in to the phone. The Wizard will then either recognize the phone and you can select the image that you want to flash to it, or it will return an error message that the phone was not found. In that case it is most likely a driver issue.

I am pretty sure that if you try to do it any other way than the above described, you stand a pretty good chance of turning the phone in to a Paperweight.

Stilll nothing happened, I will just give up. And try to find a new motherboard.
And if the screen did a flash when I press the left button and power, did that mean the motherboard is still OK? OR, just a flash and means nothing?

Hello,

Just wanted to let you guys know that I just managed to revive my "dead" mpx200. I flashed to wm2005 last year, shut it down, and found out the next morning that the phone wouldn't boot up, didn't charge, wasn't recognized on my pc and did not let itself flash. After I that, I made my peace with it and bought another (cheap @$$) phone.

Today, my new (cheap @$$ tongue.gif) phone broke and I ran into my old mpx200. With a sudden rush of inspiration, I went and tried to bring this thing back to life, with success! Here's what I did (and what, from I have learned from reading around forums, works for a whole bunch of dead mpx200's):

1. Take the battery and SIM-card out.
2. Hold the left directional key (left from the blue, middle, button).
3. Connect (while still holding the left directional key), the phone to the USB cable (PC has to have ActiveSync installed).
4. Insert (while holding the left directional key, and having connected the phone to the USB cable) the battery.

The above steps made my PC recognize my phone, and I managed to flash it back to wm2003 and have a working phone again.

Hope I can help people with this post.
