Sirius Radio on your Smartphone.

A member over at Hofo by the name of bitslap47 has rewritten the code for Sirus CE to work on Windows Mobile devices. I tried it out today and it is awesome, and its perfectly legal. You must have a subscription with Sirius Radio for this to work or you can sign up for a free 3 day trial http://mpcache.sirius.com/servlet/MediaPlayerLogin/guest.

Expect more updates to this software to follow, and yes its the software is free.

.NET Compact Framework 2.0 is not required as orginally thought so if you have limited space on your phones memory, there is no need to install it. Also if you have a WM5 device, more than likely you have the 2.0 version already installed.

Instructions:

Download http://home.ptd.net/~cobra04/SiriusWM5.zip.

Unzip the file and move the .exe file into any directory you want on your smartphone. I put mine in \Program Files\SiriusWM5\SiriusWM5.exe. Then I created a shortcut in put it in \Application Data\Start Menu

The program will create a .asx file to the channel you choose and play it in Windows Media Player 10 on your phone.

It is HIGHLY suggested that you have an unlimted data plan with your carrier since streaming media uses alot of data.

Tip:

If your at home, connect your phone to ActiveSync and use pass-thru connection to listen to your fav. Sirius stations using your data connection on your computer.

You only need to sign up for the $7.99/Month if you do not need a device. Not to bad.

Need some help. New to the pocket pc world. I have the Pocket PC 6700 with windows 5.0. I downloaded Sirius program, unzip, made new folder, put unzip file in new folder. I click on the Siruis icon. Program comes up, I click on connect says Prepairing stream prepairing 1, then 2, then 3, and 4, and then finally 5 and get message max retry exceeded.I double checked and my password is correct with Sirius. So what am I doing wrong?

First: This is fantastic!! Great job...

Are there any plans for updates to this?

I have the Motorola Q and the user interface is kinda hard to view. Specifically the list box extends below the buttons on the bottom, so you cannot see all the entries even when fully scrolled down...

Is the source/VS proj available? Maybe I can try to adjust it...

Either way it is usable and plays the streams well...

Thanks!!

It seems Sirius has broken the app by adding one of those image-text verification things to their login page.

Now you must enter that text in order to get the stream

Is there a way that this app could pull that image and its form and present it for us to simply type in what we see and submit to server? That way we'd be giving their server what it wants and would still be able to listen...

any thoughts?

In my blog entry I mentioned the name of the www.howardforms.com member who rewrote the code for Windows Moblie. I would check with him if any updates have been made for this application. I haven't used it since I had my MPx 220 lol.
